Choices! What will it be? #64 : Student

Student is what I have chosen to write about. The life of a student Is different from the life of a non-student which a student is thinking about how to pass his or her examination and make his or her family proud which is mostly found among secondary school students.

Also, the life of a student is to wake up as early as possible so as not to miss assembly or morning class during my days in secondary school, I would prefer missing my home chores than going to school late because if I should do I would be beaten by my seniors or teachers for coming to school late. Today the life I am facing as a student in a higher institution is different from the kind of life I faced during my secondary school days.

Currently, I am a student in one of the reputable colleges of education in the northern part of Nigeria and things haven't been easy for me. As a student schooling outside my state of origin where I have no brothers, uncle, or relationship with the state I usually passed through stress which is the reason why whenever there is a little break I would just travel home.

This is how my life as a student has been going for me. As a student, my parents usually sent me money for upkeep every end of the month for me to buy foodstuffs which with the high cost of living today, I do finish the money before the end of the month. I am offering about 13 courses and my lectures usually begin from 8 am down to 6 PM.

Whenever I have an 8 am lecture, I go to bed early so I can wake up early the next morning and prepare myself for the lecture, because if I don't wake up early it means I will miss entering the class se in my lodge it is a public toilet and bathroom that is in the compound, which you have to wait for the first person that enter the bathroom to come out before you can enter.

As a student what usually comes to my mind is how to pass my examination and graduate with a good grade that will land me a better job. For me to develop a reading habit, I became friends with the top 5 best-performing students in my department. These friends of mind are now my roommates and they are the ones who have been encouraging me and motivating me to take my academic seriously.

It is not easy to pass through the stress of academic activities as a student in any of Nigeria's higher instructions, because at this minute you will be thinking of what you are to eat, the next minute how you will do your assignment, projects, and other things which have never been easy for me. Students are leaders of tomorrow, and I believe whatever the stress that a student might be facing is not a punishment, but training for the future.

As a student some of my Key challenges are:

Finance

• Money to buy handbook
• Money to take good care of myself
• Money eat the things that I like

Sexual assaults

• Sexual assaults from lecturers
• Sexual assaults from students

Also, I do feel tired most time to even cook food I eat, because of the stress of moving from one lecture hall to another lecture hall, trying to do assignments, practicals, and other stresses which at the end of the day I do feel exhausted to cook the food I would eat. The life of a student hasn't been easy across the world, most especially for students whose parents aren't wealthy.
