Choices! What will it be? #74
Cheap
Before now, I use to be a lover of cheap things. I believe things don't have to be expensive to be good and I have gotten some good stuff at a very cheap rate.
Yes I was an ambassador to that school of thought. Though that can be said to be true but not totally true because quality is quality for a reason. This i learnt the hard way.
Quality and luxury has a lot in common but not all quality stuffs are actually luxury but all luxury stuffs are actually quality.
Two years ago, I wanted to celebrate my husband's birthday with some specific gifts. I want to get him the latest fashion clothes.
I know he loves to look good and I wanted to take his looking good to the next level.
As an ambassador for cheap things I decided to patronize a vendor that sells things cheaper.
Off course he gave me the same cloth much more cheaper than other vendors and I was feeling very smart.
Like the would say killing seven birds with one stone. So I thought.
The clothes where meant to arrive one week before my husband's birthday.
On the supposed day of arrival, I called and no one was picking up, I even called the person who recommended the vendor to me. She also tried to reach the vendor but all to no avail.
I kept calling and calling at least 3 to 4 times everyday and it was impossible to reach them.
I was so angry, I sent a text and still no reply.
Finally a day to my husband's birthday the vendor called me and was telling me so much story, I was not interested in the stories I told him.
Finally he told me he had given my goods to a transport company to deliver to me later that day.
Though it was late for the things I wanted to use it for before the birthday, but at least I can still present the gift before the birthday.
Through out that day, I never got any call from the driver, regarding my goods. Finally the day was over and there was no gift to be presented the next day.
I was so pissed. Towards the afternoon the driver called and was apologizing for the delay. He said his vehicle broke down on the road and he could not fix immediately, so he had to wait till morning to continue his journey.
I said okay angrily and went to the pick up location to pick up my goods.
As I went to pick up my goods, I was happy at least I still get to give my husband a gift on his birthday. It better late that never.
When I got home, opened my package only to be shocked beyond my imagination.
The goods was a total rubbish. They where faded and of the lowest quality you can ever imagined. As I was opening the gift my husband walked into the room and saw the way I was looking at the clothes. He asked if they where rags.
That word pieced my heart, but he was not to be blame for calling his supposed gift rag. The clothes looks like an actual rag.
I did not know what to answer him, I quickly said yes. That I wanted to change the rags in the kitchen.
After using those clothes for rag. I learnt my lessons big time.
It was until I had replaced the gift, I finally told my husband the story behind those rags in the kitchen.

Hahhahaahah😂😂😂. I couldn't help but LOL
Oh dear, oh dear!
We have a saying for this in my home language... "Goedkoop koop is duur koop!" In other words, buying cheap often lands up to be more expensive.
I know all too well the feelings that you had, as I was also caught like this once before.
Thank you for entering this week's contest.
Best wishes!
It often is, I most say.
