The Diary Game #60: Share your day with us! (My Honesty got rewarded 18 November 2024)

It indeed pays to be honest, but one thing this generation has lost, is honesty.

Today I woke up excited because I would be making vegetable soup for a friend of my who came into the country recently.

She had asked me few days ago if I still do my food business and I said yes.
Just yesterday she asked me to send my price list which o sent to her.
After going through them, she ordered for two liters of vegetable soup.

Vegetable soup is Nigerians delicacy, it's made with pumpkin leaf, water leaf and sometimes wild spinach.

Anybody who knows me well enough would know I love to cook, like I really enjoy cooking and also for the record am an excellent cook.

Waking up to that excitement, I quickly dressed up and headed straight to the market.

Things where expensive as usual but I was heaven bent on getting the best and not compromising the quality of the food for my personal gain.

After buying everything she has requested I had just a little profit lef but I was not bothered.
Immediately I got home, without resting and went straight to the kitchen to do what I love doing, making good meals.

THE PREPARATION

The first thing I did was steam my proteins, for this soup, I made use of goat meat, stock fish, dried fish, roasted cow skin, periwinkles and crayfish.

After steaming my proteins, I went ahead to introduce my palm oil after it has cooked for about 30 minutes, I began to introduce the vegetables one after the other.
The first was the wild spinach blended with crayfish, followed by the water leaf and lastly the pumpkin leaf.

After, I went ahead and allowed it to cook for just five minutes and our sumptuous meal was ready.

I know some of you would argue adding wild spinach to vegetables soup, but give it a try and thank me later.

The next thing I did was to start plating my food in two plates, one liter each, making it a total of two liters.

The soup came out great, when I was delivering the meal, I was confident that the review would be just as I expected and trust me it was.

The part that made my day was when my client offered me another opportunity to handle the new restaurant they where about to open.

Apparently she wanted to try my cooking without me knowing before presenting me with the offer.

After my conversation with her, I understood why it's good never to compromise quality over again as a business person.

The lessons I learnt

  • It pays to be sincere at all times because you never cam tell when your reward would come knocking.

  • As a Business man or woman, never compromise your quality for anything. It makes you service desirable by kings.

  • If you are into any business please never be shy to talk about your business with friends and family.

Thank you for reading up to this level, pls I would want @ruthjoe @ninapanda and goodybest to share their day with us.
