This word I picked actually reminds me of the times I've been robbed at home. Robbery attack is a very terrible experience and having experienced this countless times, I want to share what it's all about so you won't just think robbery is about stealing. It's far from just stealing people's things. Lives sometimes do get involved and there's nothing you can do about it.

The word robbery refers to an activity or activities where groups of people called gangs get to steal from people, cause trauma and harm and rob someone of his or her joy. It is also that action that is done by force or threat and those who engage in robbery are called Robbers. These people are mostly men who under the influence of alcohol, hard drugs or even with the bitting economy today can cause threats to people's lives and properties. This robbery is an unlawful act and anyone caught isn't treated kindly.

There are different types of robbery or robbers. Robbers;

• who are there to steal people's properties by force
• who rob people's houses with the aim of stealing and rapping any female gender seen in that house
• who rob with the intentions of killing the inhabitants of that house without stealing anything.

These set of robbers rob both in the daytime but mostly at night. The experiences I've had with robbery attacks is mostly at night.

As I said at the onset, I've had lots of experiences with robbers who rob my house and night and even threatened to rape me. My first robbery experience was when I had two kids. The robbers entered my house at night by breaking the wall and carving it to a setting they would enter. Back then, I didn't have any policeman number to call for help. I tried reaching out to people in private so they could come to my rescue but it was already too late.

They broke in and took what they saw. My two kids experienced this trauma for the first time. I was tied with my husband and kept in one room, locked until they were done searching the house. The robbery attack changed my mental state. Little did I know I was living with robbers who seemed to be my neighbours. In no time, I relocated as that was a rented apartment.

My second robbery attack experience happened when I was in my own house. They came at night and this time,the trauma was even much worse. They took to breaking the door with a plank and got inside. When they saw they couldn't penetrate where we are as the door was an iron door, they took to breaking through protector by the window with one plank push and got into the house.

My happiness was that it was only the door that was damaged. They ordered for everything valuable and took the money made that day from my sales. The fear of being harmed made my children run out of the compound to other people's house for shelter.

The first house they went didn't allow them in but the second house did allow them. They took that risk as well. I wasn't even aware my children left the house. That was a very big mistake they made as it was very risky. I was locked to a room till operation was done. After everything, policemen showed up. They always come after the robbers had left. That's one funny thing about Nigerian police.

These are some of my experiences that sprang from robbery attacks.

There are lot of factors that cause robbery and one of the major is poverty and high standard of living. When you barely have what to eat and your background in very depreciating, you'll be forced to rob people of their own properties just to get something they'll eat and upgrade their lives.

The biting economy where prices of things are surging like assets have made people's income valueless. Their money can't afford anything useful as before. So they rather venture into robbing at night to get more.

Bad influence also cause people to take up robbery. They have refused to work for themselves to raise money that would be enough to cater for their lives and probably their background is questionable with no good home training. They join these gangs and make them their own family. When they rob, their conscience is dead. They can even kill because of money. These are done major causes of robbery

The effect of robbery on the robber is that if caught, they'll suffer imprisonment in jail or they'll suffer jungle justice by the hands of community members which is quick death. They aren't spared because when they want to rob, they won't spare either. Most of them do carry curses on their heads which at some point do work . Most mad people you see today are robbers or wicked people. The final product is always death at the end.

To those robbed, they face serious trauma that they won't be able to forget easily. Those ladies rapes get their future jeopardized because of this robbery. A lot go begging as their accounts are being emptied. They start their lives afresh and finds it hard to recover. There's always lot of trauma that comes with this attack.

To those who take up robbery as their own way of surviving, I'll advise them to quit and take up something for themselves even if it's to do hard labour. Robbing will only bring harm to them in future if not now. Their background may contribute but it's not even reason to rob. To those who suffer from this robbery, I'll advise you have security personnel contact in case of emerging situations like this.......
