CONTEST Tools to Spark Culinary Inspiration #11: Food poisoning
Hello my dear Steemians,
Today I wanted to write for this contest that is running by @ninapenda, here is the link if you are also interested:
Preparing food ourselves and using the products that we know is something that we need to take carefully. We are lucky in modern time that we have the Health control system that keeps an eye on the food that is sold in supermarket, especially milk, meat, eggs products. These products should be kept in special condition, the temperature without any break in keeping the same temperature for the period of transport of food, but also it is important to make sure the food is stored correctly in supermarkets. Often such food is kept only for certain period of time and should not be used if that time is bridged.
If such food is bought and used at home for cooking of just eating if that is milk and milk products them we might get food poisoning.
The same food poisoning could happen if you buy food in take away, that means the food is prepared by someone and if the person has not paid attention to hygiene of his own hands or surfaces where the food is prepared then that also could be a source of infection.
Such case happened just couple of days ago in USA, in branches of fast food chain McDonald, that many people who got their food suffered from E.coli infection. It was not clear what was the begin or maybe who. If that was at very beginning when the mean was prepared or maybe later on when they were prepared at the final stage of preparation.
The symptoms of Food poisoning usually affect our gastrointestinal tract and present with:
- nausea and vomiting
- loose motions or diarrhoea
- often you may become dehydrated and need admission to hospital
- in some cases people may develop temperature and unwell
Often if a person identified that his problem was spoiled food then they will try to stay at home, try to drink plenty and of course they should not use anything like Imodium to stop diarrhoea because it is normal reaction of our body to get rid of the toxins and we just need to help with a lot of fluid to clean our body.
I can only suggest:
- check the expiry date of your food
- make sure that you cook your food with appropriate temperature and time of cooking
- when you order food make sure that you know well the place and their hygiene standard
- if you have symptoms of food poisoning try to hydrate yourself and if needed seek medical help in time
