What are "table manners"? Explain some examples

One of the important thing to have a good table manner. I believe in old time and in noble families such manners were brought even to very young children and also they were punished if they did not follow them.

Nowadays many people quite relaxed when it comes to table manner but I believe there are some simple once that we all need to remember and to follow:

when taking a place at the table wait till ladies have their places
if any women is leaving table then men should stand up
while at table do not put your elbows on table
when eating do not eat with open mouth, people around do not want to know what is happening in your mouth and also to have sound of chewing
do not burp and do not fart at the table
do not speak while eating it is a risk of chocking
do not laugh too loud at table people want to enjoy their food
do not eat with fingers there are knife and fork as well as spoons for that

Do you think children should be taught table manners or wait till they are grown before they can learn it?

Children, especially in very young age are willing to repeat everything that adults do and of course, try to do and get is better. They are then excited if they manage to bit their parents. Also, in this age if there is anything that we correct children do not become upset and they will try to get it done better. That is why in my opinion, it is the best age to teach something and table manner is one of the.

I think probably to eat with closed mouth, so that it is not loud, also another reason that your food will not fall out of your mouth which is often disgusting moment. In some restaurants such people will be told off and will not be allowed any more in such place in future.

Is it best to avoid a meal on the menu because you can't pronounce the name? Have you ever done it?

In some restaurants the name of menu is difficult to pronounce but while reading the description of food they may sound very delicious. Despite of being unsure about the name you still ask for the dish just pointing to the name of menu

I was few times in such situation and usually waiter was always very nice and helpful, they also like to have customers there. I often ask to advise me about the food, they are happy to help with it too.

Often after visiting the place couple of time I remember the name and the next time I have no problem to pronounce the name of a dish.
