Greetings, Fine Felines and Hoomans of Steemlandia!

Welcome to a very special Caturday for us, as this week we welcomed two new Feline friends to our household!

Meet Shangri and Lala!

On Tuesday, the Hoomans went to our local Animal Shelter's annual "quick adoptions" event, which they run at the end of puppy and kitten season to try to adopt out as many animals as possible before we get into the "dark" months of the year.

And so, we welcomed the adorable kittens whom have been named "Shangri" (orange and white male kitten) and "Lala" (female calico kitten).

The Hoomans chose them because they were part of the same litter, and they were also slightly older, at 4-5 months.

They are a little shy and skittish, perhaps the result of having been at the shelter for over six weeks. They were also the last two from this particular litter.

Shangri, paying attention!

Although they are currently living mostly in their own space — the guest room — while they are settling in and relaxing into their new "forever home," we have also been introduced and it was all done with friendly curiosity.

Looks like everyone is going to get along and be friends!

Meeting "Uncle Shadow" for the first time!

Both kittens seem to have very sweet natures, and are very gentle... and even after four days, they are already starting to be less nervous and more willing to be picked up.

Their pen at the animal shelter was right by the main entrance, so they lived with a lot of activity and commotion... and we are helping them get used to love, peace and quiet!

Settling in!

As original "Alpha cat" of the house, I think they will fit in quite well, and I am settling into my role as "Uncle Shadow."

The Hoomans seem to think that it will be good for me to have some kittens to chase and round and have "crazy kitty hour" with. We'll see!

Those kittens sure have a lot of energy!

So far, Smudge has only been nose-to-nose with the kittens through a baby gate... the Hoomans are trying to respect her seniority and generally slow ways.

After all, she is 19 years old!

Anyway, we're happy to have two new kitties in the house... and feel good about having rescued them from the Animal Shelter!

Hopefully they will enjoy good, long and happy lives with us!
