Food security refers to ensuring the availability and nutritional quality of food. Food safety is a very important issue for us. Due to various problems in the world, food security is currently under threat.

How does food security affect public health?

Food is our means of survival; without food, we cannot survive for long, and sun disease will take root in our bodies. So safe food is an essential part of our health. Food security can cause us various problems. For example, lack of nutritious and safe food can lead to weakness, mental problems, depression, malnutrition, risk of major diseases, and reduced immunity. Children are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity. So there is no alternative to food security for our good health.

What role do government policies play in food security?

Various measures are taken by the public as well as the government for food security. Following are some steps taken by the government for food security:

  • Food security needs to increase food production, so the government makes available better quality seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and modern machinery.
  • The government provides incentives and subsidies to farmers to increase food production.
  • The government takes necessary measures to protect crops from natural calamities.
  • The government makes various laws to control the quality of food.
  • Government takes necessary steps to preserve food, to meet future demand.

How does climate change threaten food security?

Climate change is a major threat to food security. Some of the issues highlighted are:

  • Climate change increases natural disasters, resulting in reduced food production and losses.
  • As a result of climate change, due to high temperatures, drought occurs in cropland and canals, and rivers and canals become dehydrated. As a result crop production is disrupted.
  • As a result of climate change, heavy rains are increasing day by day, resulting in more floods. So the crop is suffering huge damage.
  • Climate change increases salinity in coastal areas and reduces soil permeability.
  • Climate change causes economic problems, as farmers struggle to cover their costs, so many have shifted production.

Because through community gardens, we can fill many food shortages, and those foods are fresh and nutritious. As a result, it is very good for our health. Community garden production is increasing with today's advanced technology. It reduces the cost of crop production and saves time. As a result, economic progress can also be made. How do cultural factors influence food choices?

Cultural factors influence food preferences. Because we each country, race, culture like to eat different food. For example, fish, rice, bharta, and vegetables are popular in Bangladesh. On the other hand, pasta and pizza are popular foods in Italy. So it can be said that the list of food choices is also different due to culture, tradition, religion, ethnicity etc.

I invited them to participate in the beautiful contest @ninapenda, @solperez, @mmmmkkkk311.

Best Regards from @akbarmia
