Introduction

Multivitamins are a set of drugs used to get vitamins or nutrients that the foods eaten daily could not provide. That's to say that it provides additional vitamins and nutrients the body needs which are not contained in the food we eat daily. Also, multivitamins provide vitamins that the body loses due to sickness or pregnancy.

Have you ever taken a multivitamin before? Why?

Yes, I have taken multivitamins several times. When I was pregnant, my doctor recommended that I take multivitamins. According to the doctor, he said it was important for pregnant women to take multivitamins because she shares the nutrients and vitamins in her body with her unborn child. Especially as most people don't take a balanced diet due to hardship and the economic situation in the country. So, taking multivitamins will supplement the diets that the body needs.

What are the goods and bars of multivitamins to our health?

Good

  • Multivitamins help to provide the nutrients the body lacks due to a poor diet. For example, if I eat food rich in carbohydrates and protein daily, I'll need to use multivitamins to supplement the other diets and nutrients my body requires for proper growth and functioning.

  • Multivitamins help to restore the proper nutrients the body requires after an ailment, especially after a major surgery and pregnancy.

Bad

  • Overdose intake of multivitamins can be harmful to the body due to additives and other chemical combinations in the production of the supplement.

  • Most multivitamins can cause stomach upsets, especially when not taken with food, as most of them give an appetite to eat.

Do you believe that everyone should take multivitamins, or are they only necessary for certain groups of people?

Anyone can take multivitamins, but when in perfect health, eating right, for example, eating meals that contain all the necessary nutrients, you may not need a multivitamin. But then, if there's any deficiency of any nutrient in your body, you need a multivitamin to supplement that which is missing in your body.

What do you think about the differences between synthetic and natural vitamins? Which do you prefer?

Synthetic vitamins are those vitamins made or produced in the factory using some chemical formulations. While the natural vitamins, just as it's called, are gotten from fruits and vegetables and other foods such as meat, fish and oils.
I prefer the natural vitamins because they have no side effects or additives that may harm me.

In your opinion, how important is it to consult a healthcare professional before starting a multivitamin regimen?

It is very important to consult a healthcare professional so that he/she can prescribe the right multivitamins for you. You may not know which nutrients you lack, but when you visit a healthcare professional they will carry out the necessary tests and also prescribe the right multivitamins for you based on your condition at the time.

Self-medication at all levels is not encouraged. Visit your doctor and follow his prescription for a better health. It's a new year, turn a new live.
