First of all, what is a muscle?

A muscle can be seen as a part of the body that helps us move, stand up and keep our body stable and good shape.

Literally muscle can be categorize in to three which are; skeletal muscles, smooth muscles and heart muscles.

Thus, muscle:

  • Help us to move around.
  • Keep us healthy and sound.
  • Support our bones to make it more stronger.
  • Keep our body working properly and energetic.

However, Muscle twitching refers to a small muscle contractions in the body systems. It can also be seen as a situations when the muscle jump or moved unexpectedly in our body system

✍️What cause muscle twitching?

The following are some of the common causes of muscle twitching, experiencing by humans on daily basis and these includes:

  • Physical activities: This occur as a result of various exercises which eventually affects the legs, back and of course the arms as well causing the muscle twitch.

  • Stress and anxiety: Couple with lifelong challenges and other health symptoms, stress and anxiety usually tend to cause nervoustic and which adversely affect muscle twitching in the body system.

  • Too much Caffeine: Taking too much caffeine and other stimulants can drastically cause muscles spasms in any part of the body to twitch.

  • Inadequate Nutrition: Lack of nutrition to the body system also cause muscle spasms, and particularly in the eyelids, hands and calves.

  • Drug abuse: Misused of drugs also cause muscle to twitch, this occurs from reaction examples are estrogen pills, the twitching can affect the arms, hands or possibly legs as the case maybe.

  • Lack of sleep or rest: This is another major cause of muscle twitching, it occured when an individual doesn't get enough time to rest or sleep, thereby resulting to muscle spasms making it to twitch.

With this and Many more causes depending on an individual reactions and health conditions.

✍️How can we prevent our muscles from twitching?

To be honest, to the best of my abilities if the symptoms persist, my candid advice is for that person to visit his or her doctor for proper checkup and treatment, which is the easiest ways of preventing muscle twitching.

Although there are many other ways of preventing our muscles from twitching though is never easy sometimes but the following ways are:

  • Eating balance diet: This is very significant in reducing our muscles from twitching, food that are very nutritional helps in preventing our muscles from twitching.

  • Get enough time to sleep or rest, this also helps a lot in reducing the rates of muscle twitching in our body system.

  • Avoid taking caffeine or there should be a limit for taking it.

  • Reducing the way you smoke or stop it completely, because Nicotine is considered a mild stimulant that affects our central nervous system which are bad. However when we stop smoking, it also helps to lower the risk of other serious health problems in the body system.

Great explanation. You are really on point, stress can easily affect us by bringing muscles twitching. In all you have said,I have learnt that If we practice good and healthy lifestyle,we will surely be free from muscle twitching.

Restraining from too much of work can relief stress and strain of the muscle which often result to muscle twitching.
