Health Matters (Food Security)
Hope everyone is well, by the grace of Allah I am also well. Today I am going to participate in the Health Matters (12) FOOD SECURITY contest organized by Mr. @sahmie Sir in Healthy steem community. And I will gain more understanding about food security by participating in this contest.
The types of food security and public health are given below:
Malnutrition
Due to the lack of safe and nutritious food, our body does not have enough nutrients, and if we consume food for a long time, we suffer from physical illness and it affects our brain by neglecting these harmful foods.
Illness and Disease
We can develop various types of diseases in our body due to consuming unhealthy food such as contaminated, spoiled, and unhygienic food.
Risk of premature death from contaminated food
If we eat toxic products such as pesticides or chemicals, then there will be many health risks in our lives such as heart problems, cancer, and problems with getting cancer. And if there is no food security, various problems will arise in our body and we will die prematurely, etc.
Economic Loss
For proper food security and food, our health treatment or medicine costs will increase, which will affect our economy. This food will directly affect the physical, mental and social health of the people and increase the risk of public health.
The policy for food production and growth is
The important role of the government in food security is to be recognized, along with laws and regular distribution and consumer protection and ensuring nutritious food, the government should invest in agriculture and support farmers so that food production increases. And farmers need to increase their agricultural skills through improved technology, seeds, irrigation systems and agricultural training. And agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides should be provided at the right price and as needed.
Price stability for food security
The government should formulate the right policy to keep the price of food in the market stable. When the food demand increases, the government should control the export of food stocks and supply it and take action according to the need.
Food crisis situation
In case of famine or famine or food crisis due to natural conditions, the government should take all the necessary preparations to deal with the national food crisis and take all the necessary preparations, and distribute the stored food and take emergency assistance measures.
Public awareness and nutrition education
The government should organize educational programs in various camps to increase public awareness of food security and nutrition. This encourages people to lead a healthy lifestyle and proper food security management. Therefore, I think that all these activities play a very important role in the leadership of the government to ensure food security, so that people at every level of society can get adequate, nutritious and safe food.
Climate change is a major threat to food security that can have a huge impact on food production and supply systems.
Impact on agricultural production
In agriculture, excessive heat or excessive cold weather can be harmful to agricultural production. For example, high temperatures can reduce crop yields, while in summer it is more dangerous for crops because the process of growth can be accelerated, resulting in reduced yields. Irregular rainfall can cause loss of agricultural yields. Also, diseases increase the spread of various disease-causing insects that damage agricultural crops.
Conclusion
Climate change is a major threat to food security, not only threatening agricultural production but also affecting supply price stability and livelihoods of people, etc.
