HEALTH MATTERS ; AIR POLLUTION.
Assalamu Alaikum,
Hello everyone,
I am @selina1
From #Bangladesh
Starting off by wishing good health to all steemit friends. I'm here today to participate in a great contest in the healthy steemit community. The theme of the contest is Health Matters (13); AIR POLLUTION. Currently, there are various problems due to the increase in the amount of air pollution all over the world. So I will enter the contest today with my experience. So let's get started.
What is the main source of air pollution in our environment?
Air pollution is a type of pollution of the environment through chemical activity, physical or biological means that changes the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. Our natural environment has various major sources of air pollution.
- Factories: Emissions from various factories pollute the air of the natural environment. At present, factories are established in various places and the smoke emitted from them is the main source of pollution. There are more schools in cities than in villages. Such as different types of mill factories, factories and brick kilns etc.
- Vehicles: Harmful fumes emitted by various types of petrol and diesel vehicles pollute the surrounding air. Also, vehicles contain large amounts of nitrogen oxides which are the main cause of air pollution.
Decomposition: Various foul-smelling gases like hydrogen, methane etc. mix with the air from the decomposition of different types of organisms to form air pollution.
Nuclear power plant: Nuclear power plant reactors emit large amount of radioactive material which affects air pollution.
Another major cause of air pollution is greenhouse emissions. As a result, the natural atmosphere is being heavily polluted.
How does air pollution affect human health, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly?
Air pollution affects the health of people especially the vulnerable groups like children and the elderly. Because air pollution causes various diseases in the human body.
Air pollution affects children's health.
Children growing up in polluted air are more likely to develop respiratory infections. As a result, children develop pneumonia and asthma, bronchiolitis.
In addition, due to the delicate nature of children's lungs, their immunity is low. As a result, various types of bacteria and viruses attack the children's body easily.
Due to air pollution, children's pneumonia increases so much that it is difficult for the child to breathe. Besides, children have many diseases that are long-term.
Air pollution affects the interests of adults
Children as well as the elderly can suffer from lung damage due to this air pollution. Because air pollution contains various types of fine particles and harmful gases.
Air pollution damages the heart of many elderly people and puts them at risk of heart disease.
Many times elderly people get headaches, various eye problems, itching ie skin diseases etc.
In addition, air pollution causes respiratory infections like asthma in children as well as in the elderly.
What are some common symptoms or health problems caused by exposure to polluted air?
Following are some common symptoms or health problems due to exposure to polluted air.
From my experience, exposure to polluted air can actually cause respiratory problems in the first place. For example, it is often produced through sneezing and coughing.
Besides, this air pollution also disrupts the development of children's intelligence and damages children's nerves.
Exposure to polluted air causes itching of the body skin. Prolonged itching often leads to skin diseases which are very dangerous for the skin of the body.
Air pollution causes various types of lung diseases in the first stage and later turns into lung cancer.
In addition, exposure to air pollution causes serious damage to pregnant women. As a result, many times pregnant women have the possibility of miscarriage.
How can individuals contribute to reducing air pollution in their daily lives?
Taking or reviewing measures to prevent air pollution in factories in this digital age. Also in the case of vehicles so as not to pollute the air, moving through them like we have in Bangladesh Metrorail does not pollute the air. It is better to wear masks while going outside as it reduces respiratory problems due to air pollution.
Besides, we have to take care in the agricultural work that we use various pesticides so that it does not happen outside. Awareness of common people can reduce air pollution. Besides, dead animals should be buried in the ground. Because of this, there are various types of air pollution around. Due to air pollution, the amount of oxygen is decreasing. So to save the earth we have to prevent air pollution and plant trees.
How does air pollution vary between cities and rural areas?
Air pollution is slightly higher in cities than in villages. Because the city has more factories, denser settlements and more population. In addition, there are more vehicles in cities than in villages and garbage is dumped there. Due to this, bad smell spreads around and common people are affected by various diseases. Although air pollution is less in villages than in cities, the main reason is that villages have more green plants and less population. Factories in villages. If not, their main source is agriculture. But in many villages the air is polluted as some people use pesticides or fertilizers in agriculture which cause air pollution. Also the burning of fossil fuels also pollutes the surrounding air.
