Have you ever taken a multivitamin before? Why?
I have taken multivitamins several times. Sometimes I took them on the advice of a doctor and sometimes on the advice of a pharmacist I knew. There was a time when I had to work 16-17 hours a day. At that time, my diet was somewhat irregular. I could not eat the necessary foods to maintain proper nutrition and health. When I ate what was available, I ate. Because of these reasons, I sometimes felt weak and sick. When I went to the doctor, he advised me to take multivitamins along with other medicines, although I do not remember the name of the multivitamin now. However, I have had to take this medicine several times.
What are the goods and bars of multivitamins to our health?
Multivitamins have many benefits and harmful effects for good health. I am discussing two aspects.
Benefits: -
- Natural foods provide all kinds of nutrients. If, for some reason, we cannot eat natural foods, then multivitamins help provide that nutrition.
- Multivitamins are very effective for people who have celiac or Crohn's disease.
- Multivitamins are needed for the complete nutrition of pregnant women.
- Multivitamins are used as an alternative when the body has a high nutritional requirement but is unable to consume it.
Disadvantages:-
- Excessive intake of multivitamins can cause harm to the body.
- High levels of iron can cause constipation or kidney stones.
- Thinking that a multivitamin can be a supplement to a balanced diet, it can lead to neglect of a balanced diet. As a result, various problems can arise in the body.
- Not all multivitamins are used for all types of nutrition. If the multivitamin is not used for the patient, it will not be effective.
Do you believe that everyone should take multivitamins, or are they only necessary for certain groups of people?
Although multivitamins are a supplement to a balanced diet, they are not a substitute for a balanced diet. They are only consumed in the absence of a balanced diet. Therefore, they do not apply to everyone. People who need to consume them are: -
- Those who are vegetarians and suffer from nutritional deficiencies of vitamin B12, iron, and omega-3 can consume these vitamins.
- Those who have malabsorption problems can consume these vitamins.
- Those who need higher physical and specific nutritional needs can consume them.
- After all, multivitamins are not universally necessary but may be necessary for certain groups.
What do you think about the differences between synthetic and natural vitamins? Which do you prefer?
Synthetic and natural vitamins are not the same. There are many differences between these two, such as: -
Source: -
Natural vitamins: -We get them from all kinds of natural foods. Each food contains different types of vitamins. For example, lemon contains vitamin C.
Synthetic vitamins: -These vitamins are chemically produced in milk.
Bioavailability: -
Natural Vitamins: -Natural vitamins are more bioavailable because they contain cofactors that aid in absorption. For example, enzymes, flavonoids
Synthetic Vitamins: -Many synthetic vitamins have higher bioavailability. For example, folic acid
Natural Vitamins: -These are found in whole foods and are relatively expensive
Synthetic Vitamins: -These are made in dairy and are relatively less expensive.
Considering both, I would prefer natural vitamins. Because they contain fiber, phytonutrients, and many other beneficial compounds.
In your opinion, how important is it to consult a healthcare professional before starting a multivitamin regimen?
It is important to consult a professional healthcare professional or nutritionist before starting a multivitamin regimen for several reasons. For example: -
- Each person has different nutritional needs depending on age, gender, health status, and life journey. Only a skilled nutritionist can give the right advice on this. Therefore, we should take advice from them before starting a multivitamin regimen.
- A nutritionist checks the body condition and, if necessary, tests the blood to decide whether the patient needs multivitamins. It is not possible for us to check this in a normal way, so we have to go to a health worker.
- Some vitamins dissolve body fat and can cause toxicity if taken in excess. A professional doctor can give us the right dosage for this.
There are many other reasons why it is absolutely necessary to take the advice of a professional doctor before starting a multivitamin regimen.
