Health Matters ; AIR POLLUTION
Air, water and soil these three elements are most important for life. There is no life that can survive without these three elements of nature that given by Almighty Allah. Polluted air, water and soil can cause death too but these are actually source of life that found in nature. Today's discussion topic is air pollution and it has impact on our health.
What are the main sources of air pollution in our environment?
There are many sources of air pollution we can see around us. Human activities and natural processes comes first in my mind when I think about air pollution. We human are responsible behind polluting air and we can't deny this bitter truth. Would like to mention some human activities that can be consider sources of air pollution.
First thing came into my mind is vehicles that release poisonous gas or smoke to cause air pollution. Industrial facilities of factories cause air pollution, burning fireplace, excess use of recreational equipments or cooling and heating gadgets can cause air pollution. Power plants, oil refineries, random garbage throwing areas also can cause air pollution.
How does air pollution affect human health, especially vulnerable groups like children and the elderly?
Undoubtedly air pollution has negative impact on health of human and animal life. As we inhale oxygen from the air and release carbon dioxide when exhale. Air pollution affect neurodevelopment and cognitive ability and can trigger asthma and early age cancer. Kids who belongs to a air polluted area for long time can experience chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease in their life. After a age this could be hard to cure and can cause early death too. Polluted air can be compared to slow poison for life.
What are some common symptoms or health issues caused by exposure to polluted air?
Common symptoms or health issues for air pollution can be found in short term and long term. It can cause dust allergy, difficulty breathing, eye, dizziness,Coughing, nose, and throat irritation, headache, wheezing, fatigue and many more issues for short term. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, pneumonia, aggravated asthma, cataract, lower respiratory infections, autism, obesity, autoimmune diseases, breast cancer, inflammation, and kidney diseases.
How can individuals contribute to reducing air pollution in their daily lives?
Individuals can contribute to reduce air pollution in some ways like stop producing poisonous gas or smoke that can pollute air. Stop using gadgets that can pollute air and affect the health of animals including human life. The production of polluted air should be brought under control though it can seems hard in this era of science and technology. Individuals can spread consciousness or concern about air pollution and can build a community to prevent air pollution as much possible.
How does air pollution vary between urban and rural areas?
Urban areas are more polluted than rural areas because industrial factories and human gather in urban areas. The use of vehicles and gadgets that produce polluted smoke or air can be found more in urban areas. In rural areas air pollution mostly found because people doesn't dispose garbage properly and through it beside the road or random areas. Many people in villages still find nature relief (urine/pee, potty) in random places which affects the health of people in that place.
