What are painkillers?

An analgesic is a drug that is simply called an analgesic, antalgic, pain reliever, or painkiller. Analgesics are conceptually different from anesthetics that temporarily reduce and in some cases eliminate sensation.

However, pain medications are prescribed depending on the type of pain. Paracetamol, also known as APAP, is used to treat pain and fever. It is also commonly used for mild to moderate pain. However, using antibiotics for acute pain results in pain relief.

What do you think are the most common reasons people use painkillers?

The most common reasons why people use painkillers are given below, which I think are the most common.

  • I am a citizen of Bangladesh. So let's talk about our country first. In our country, people take medicine without consulting a doctor, such as taking painkillers for minor reasons. Usually, due to pain in the hand or foot or swelling after an injury, they take antibiotics to relieve the pain that occurs, which harms us very seriously.

  • We take painkillers only when we have a slight headache or stomach ache. In addition, we take this type of medicine for headaches due to stress, studies.

  • In addition, we easily buy painkillers from the pharmacy for our chest pain or muscle pain. We also use ointments for massage.

How do you feel about the difference between over-the-counter painkillers and prescription ones?

In this case, I think that over-the-counter painkillers work well and are very important for minor pain. In our country, pharmacy doctors often prescribe antibiotics without consulting. So if I talk about my country, most of the pharmacy doctors in our country are risky.

So if the pain is severe or if there is pain in a specific place such as the kidney area or the left side of the chest, I think it is better to take medicine on the advice of a doctor. Then I think that if you take medicine by showing the doctor's prescription, you will be more aware of your health.

Can you think of any natural alternatives to painkillers that people might use?

Yes, I can think of natural alternatives to painkillers, but there are different natural remedies for some pains.

  • If I say for a headache, then drinking black tea with basil leaves, ginger, and cloves cures the headache.

  • If it is said to eliminate excessive pain, then mustard oil and garlic paste are heated together and if the hot oil is massaged into the muscles, the pain is eliminated instantly.

  • In case of stomach pain, putting a strained hot water bottle in the stomach eliminates the pain.

  • If you feel pain after stumbling or if there is swelling somewhere, then heating turmeric paste on that place and applying it to that place reduces the pain.

  • Besides, if you feel pain in the joints, chewing raw turmeric and eating it eliminates the pain in the joints.

What do you think are the risks of using painkillers too often?

What I think is the risk of using painkillers too often is given below.

  • Frequent painkillers first set up our mind that taking the medicine will eliminate the pain. This is one of the many harms for us.

  • The first organ of the body to be damaged is our kidneys. As a result, we will have to suffer for the rest of our lives. Kidneys are damaged quickly by taking too much painkillers.

  • If we take too many painkillers, our body gets stiff along with an upset stomach.

  • If we take too many painkillers, even if there is a slight pain, it does not want to be cured by medicine. Then we have to give more powerful injections. Which may relieve the pain a little, but later it will get worse.

  • If we take too much painkillers, our liver will be damaged quickly.

I would like to invite my friends @mehwish-almas @nurnobi10 and @meehu to take part in the contest.
