"The Diary Game Season 3 (10/16/2021) | CREATING NEW HOME FOR OUR BABIES".

in Steemit Philippines3 years ago

Howdy my lovely community! 20% of this post goes to @steemitphcurrator!

Saturday is almost over but I am quite impressed on how our day turned out. Usually, we spend the whole day either sleeping, cuddling or watching movies as our way of recuperating from a week of hard work and stress. Nevertheless, the sweat was all worth it after seeing our babies' new home.

So guys, you might be wondering who or what I am referring to as "babies" and how we can easily make a home for them, right? To address your curiousity, let me introduce you to them. Ladies and friends, please help me welcome our babies, the RANCHU GOLDFISH!

Ranchus are type of goldfish popular for its egg-like shape, the absence of its dorsal fin and its overall cuteness. It is the most expensive breed of goldfish because it has the highest cull rate(reject or bad quality) among all types of goldfish. Among hundreds of eggs a ranchu mom would lay, less than ten of them would turn out to have great qualities. Ergo their prices.

We used to buy and sell ranchus before, but the longer they stay with us, the harder it was to let go of them. So my husband and I decided to keep them for good and treat them our babies as we are not fond of human babies.......yet.

Since we can't over stock them, we divided them into two and placed in aquarium and trapond(It's a coined word of trapal and pond). However, we are getting this feeling that our babies in trapond are jealous over the ones in the aquarium and I think, I can't blame them.

Being just and fair to our babies is significant to us so we finally decided to give them what they deserve! We then searched for aquariums and got lucky to have found a thrifted one for a very low price!

We got these for only 3,000 pesos or 59 US dollars! If bought as brandnew, it would easily cost more than 5,000 or 98 US dollars! (Still expensive though but the things you do for your babies, right?)

We waited no more and started to set everything up and even with tight space at the back, we tried to manage and fit them.

One of the toughest part was to really clean the glass. It was full off stains from hardened water minerals that have built up. I wished the previous owner have cleaned it beforehand but that's what you get for paying less, right? Anyway, all for the love of our babies!

In cleaning them, we do not use any chemicals or soap as it might endager the ranchus. We just scratch the walls until we get rid of the stain.

The next part was to set up the filters. Like our filtration system in the first tank, we got four chambers for them here in this tank. Chambers are like compartments in which water passes through to get filtered. Hence, the more chambers you set, the better water quality you have. As they say, take care of your water and the water will take care of your fish.

So here's my husband preparing this Japanese mat. This is 1 meter by 1meter Japanese mat for 450 pesos or 22 US dollars. This goes to the first chamber.

The next chambers will be filled with lava rocks, ceramic rings and bakki rolls. These stuff can be bought from Facebook market and they cost us 1,500 pesos or 73 US dollars. Here are the photos the seller sent us before delivering:

These are the lava rocks. These will be placed inside a net and will go to the second chamber.

These are ceramic rocks. The holes from these help the filtration process and the house for good bacteria. These come in color white and orange. These go to the third chamber.

These are called the bakki rolls. These look like sponge but they're actually just made of rocks too!

It's already night time! We've been working for more than four hours now. Although I do less of the job, I get tired too. However, my husband seems tireless. So here he is perfecting the filtration system.

So here's how the set up would look like for now. This needs seven days cycle before we transfer our ranchu babies into their new home. That means for seven days, water will be flowing non-stop and we have to put ammonia and fish food everyday. This is to condition the tank and the water.

Though exhausted, I'd like to end this day by giving snacks to our ranchus indoor. You know mothers are good with spoiling.

So that's how our day went like. We may feel that we have not fully accomplished the task yet, but we are proud for the things we do for our ranchus, especially today. We, as fishkeepers or fish parents, believe that every creature deserves love regardless of thier kind. So we are really trying our best to give our ranchus the love that they deserve.

I'd like to invite @aprilmarieyuan, @hopefrecy and @rezel to participate in this Diary Game too!

That is all for today. Sending peace and kindness from our tiny family to yours.

Love,
Glenna
