Preparing Snacks for Hubby on his First Graveyard shift for this Quarter

Greetings from me to everyone in this community and the whole Steemit family. Sending my love and well wishes to everyone! I hope you are all doing just fine.

In this time of Pandemic, my husband and I are just working from home. Yes, I find this pandemic a blessing in disguise as we get to do our job in the comfort of our home. No hassle of commuting in going to the office, no extra expenses, more time for sleep and above all, we can spend more time for our kid.

Today, is my husband's first graveyard shift for this quarter. He is not used to working during nighttime and he really tends to get sleepy at night. Today, I thought of preparing him something that will help him stay awake.

I already have planned of doing this since early this week when he said that he will be changing shift. I know how sleepy he gets during the night and I want to do something that will help him stay focused on his job. His shift starts at 10:00 PM Philippine time. Around 12 midnight he already has started to get sleepy. Lucky that my watch alarmed when the time hits 12. The sound of it woke me up and him trying to stay awake was the first thing I noticed as I get off the bed.

I went down to our kitchen and boiled some water for his coffee.

Yesterday morning, I went to the supermarket to get some stuff that I forgot to buy the other day. I found a pack of corn ready to be made popcorn. I thought that it will be a great help to keep him awake, so I took it. I also took a kilo of tempura in case he would love to have some. While waiting for the water to boil, on the other stove, I prepared a cooking pot where I can make the popcorn.

With low heat, I waited for the pot to get hot and melted a spoon of margarine.

I then placed the corn and covered the pot. After few minutes, the popcorn have popped.

I sprinkled a scoop of iodized salt and it is ready. It's now time to fry some tempura.

While waiting for it to cook, I prepared his coffee powder in a mug and poured in hot water into it.

I added a spoon of chocolate powder into his coffee and added more water into the mug so it won't taste very sweet. He loved it.

This made me remember back when we were still friends, I have made him this drink back then and that's when he started to love having chocolate powder in his coffee sometimes. I was using Milo and Nescafe before. You can have it hot or cold, it will taste delicious either way.

I got so busy with his drink which made me almost forget the tempura I am frying.

See? I overdid the tempura but I am still lucky I did not totally burned it. Here is my husband's chocolate coffee drink with popcorn and Tempura.

I finished preparing everything at around 12:35 AM. He was having a second thought if he will drink his coffee as he really wants to sleep. Well, he does not have a choice since he has work to do. So he went ahead and finished his coffee. It indeed made him awake just for an hour. Why just for an hour? He still had a good sleep during his Lunch break from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM with all the snoring and stuff.

I was like, did you really have coffee? I envy people who gets sleepy really easily and people who are still able to sleep even after having a coffee. My husband is able to do both, so lucky of him. For me, I still struggle to sleep even after having a glass of milk. What are the odds, right?

Anyway, this would be all for this post. Have a great Sunday ahead mga kababayan!
