What is this?
A painting the size of an envelope dropped on the floor. Grandma looked shocked.
Give it to me.
Hastily she walked towards, her cane tapped on the wooden floor.
I said give it to me.
I hesitated. Not once I had seen her act this way. With an angry look she snatched the painting from my hand cherished it before she hid it underneath her chest skirt.
Don't you ever touch my books stuff again, she hissed.
In the rocking chair, she sat in front of the window and hummed a song from her childhood. Her hand against her chest she thought back to her childhood.
Every night when it got dark, the living room flooded.
Bent heads over the writing, the scratching of the pen and the flame of candle that woke at the slightest movement.

How many times had he said that while teaching the visitors the alphabet?
Silently I sat in the corner of the room to catch a glimpse of the teacher, the man who was my father but never taught me a letter of the alphabet. Had I not had this painting I would never have known what he looked like from the front.

I AM not sure of the students are all children but some parents are more dedicated to others than their offspring. Perhaps they think their children automatically know? I thought let's write about the figure in the background. He looks lonely. All those intruders in the house.
