Betterlife - The Diary Game | 6th November, 2024 | A Day of Celebrating Community, Connection, and Cherished Moments
I hope all of are you fine n having a happy time. I’m also doing great, Alhamdulillah. The day begun with a little tinge of eagerness and work orientation. I had waked early in the morning full of energy wishing to make this particular day as productive as possible. Today was a special day for my community where I devote much time as a volunteer to champion the course of its members and children. The Women Welfare Trust has a president who was visiting for the first time and we had set several activities to cover the event, including a reception.
In the morning I could only manage some quick cleaning of the house; after that I got dressed for the occasion, I decided to wear a beautiful saree to suit the formality of the occasion. Coming out I felt the excitement of the day that awaits me.
The first half of the program covered the official visit of the president starting with the invitation. After finished the breakfast together With the help of one of the committee members, we helped her see different sister concerns of our trust such as a boutique, a parlor, the Golden Eagle Nursery School, etc. They even flew to our home offices to meet with our teams, to transport me and our team saw her actively participating in our projects and having a lively interest in them, it felt like the ultimate incentive.
Off official visit was at the auditorium which was preceded by a cultural show. Being staged by soldiers’ wives and other women, it positively teemed with talent and imagination. Sermons, songs, beautiful dances and moving performances had an overwhelming effect on all the audience, starting with the president. They do so appreciative and friendly – the smile she gave us in appreciation made all the efforts worth it.
It was also possible for all the meals during the day to be completed and end up with a very tasty lunch before the end of the program. The food was delicious; we talked of our morning activities, humored each other, and ate good food together. By afternoon it was time to say goodbye to the guest. We then proceeded to the air movement together and asked her for her warm visit and the words of encouragement that she had for the team. She said she was happy with the arrangement and she has appreciated the work we have done, this of course was good for all of us.
After her departure we convened at the community welfare office. The modest of appetizers and beverages fostered exactly this kind of opportunity to unwind and chat about plans for new advancement for our community. Funny enough, it felt somewhat like reconvening a group of old friends to share ideas, giggle a little and appreciate the ties that connect us as a people.
When I arrived home I was tired to the bone but I knew it was a good kind of tiredness. My husband then suggested that we take a break for a while and go out to eat some momos which of course I didn’t pass on. One of the momo shops in Jashore that has gained a lot of reputation is a momo shop we visited. There were a great number of types of momo – chicken momo, naga momo, shrimp momo; each tasted exceptionally good. It was great to do that after such an intense and interesting day.
When I look back at my day today, overwhelmingly I feel thankfulness. From providing voluntary services in my community to enjoying a meal with my family and friends and finally relishing the quiet satisfaction that precedes even the first fringe of sleep, it was a perfect balance of work and enjoyed the moments. Thankfully, these moments let me reflect over the things I have and the fact that I am lucky to contribute to something important.
