SEC-S10W1: "What one thing would you want to delete from the Earth?

God created our planet Earth 🌎 for us to live, and he made everything beautiful and perfect for men to enjoy and take care of it. But, sadly, humans fail woefully on taking care of the earth, instead, humans are destroying our beautiful planet through their so-called technologies and inventions which seem to make life easier but in the long run, cause far more harm than good!

After giving much thought to it, one thing that I will destroy permanently if I have the power is PLASTIC. Though, Life without plastic seems to be impossible, because we use this product in buildings, construction, hospital, transportation, household, footwear, clothes, etc gosh it seems like in everything, it got me wondering how do we even arrive here? Because this product harms our environment.

Plastic takes many centuries if not thousands of years to decay, and it causes almost all types of pollution, starting from water to air and soil pollution. Starting from the time it's been manufactured it causes pollution to how it is been decompose.

All living things both the ones in water and on land are suffering from the harmful toxins released from plastic because it takes thousands of years for this product to decompose. If it's dumped on the ground it releases the toxins into the soil, likewise in water. Terrestrial animals are more susceptible to its negative effect because they normally mistake it for food and eat it, and it in turn entangled them and draws or causes them to starve.

During production plastic emits greenhouse gases causing air pollution and climate change, which is a threat to living things. Since plastic is made from petroleum its production contributes to deforestation; the cutting down of trees which is more harmful to the environment. The production of more plastic has to stop because research indicates that by 2050 oceans will have more plastics than fish. This is quite alarming, we need to raise eco-friendly kids!

Eliminating plastic from planet Earth means healthy life for humans because it will no more release harmful chemicals into our drinks and food, sicknesses like Cancer and infertility will be reduced, plants and animals will thrive, and our climate will be more friendly. There will be fewer animals entanglement and washing up on the beach with plastic in their bellies. Indeed Less plastic Means less carbon dioxide!

Well as I said before plastic has become a significant part of our lives, so I don't think we can eliminate it, but something can be done to reduce its usage, for example, Government should stop soda drinks companies From producing plastic soda drinks, more leather shoes should be made instead of plastic. We should make use of eco-friendly products like paper bags, jute bags compostable bags, etc.

Yesterday was World Environment Day, all countries including mine were talking about ways to beat plastic pollution because its adverse effects on our environment are vast and varied we shouldn't continue to ignore we must take action to stop reliance on plastic. Let the change begin with me and you, let's make small changes in our lifestyle, let's start making reusable bags, jute, or compostable bags, etc using bamboo straws and water bottles will mitigate the situation.
