SEC-S17W1: "Season of My Country"
Hello dear friends of Steem community, I am happy to participate in this contest to share the various seasons in my country Nigeria.
Seasons are unique elements to every place which determines the climate and weather conditions of that place.
In Nigeria, our unique seasons are the wet and dry seasons.
The wet season otherwise known as rainy season spans from April to October.
While the dry season spans for November to March.
Each season is unique and special with its own goodness and disadvantages, Lets see e what each of f them has got.

🟢Dry season:
This is the time where there is usually little or no rain and a low humidity Most vegetations don't often bloom at this time and the heat I can tell you is epic.
The rising dust would always stick to your legs whenever you walk through a sandy or unterred path.
This time is most suitable for outdoor events and harvesting already sown seed.
✒️Foods during the dry season: During dry season, many farmers harvest their crops and clear their bushes preparing; for early planting of the next season.
One abundant food during this season is corn. which can be very much complimented with the small African pear mixed with groundnut to make a local snack called man power.
It could be roasted, boiled, grilled or blended to make pap or mixed cereal.
In this season, people often enjoy the refreshing taste of zobo drink which is a healthy recipe made from dried hibiscus flowers, ginger, pineapple which gives flavour and some other ingredients of choice.
This drink when refrigerated is particularly suiting to cool down excess heat as well as give a sense of satisfaction from its healthy and refreshing taste.
Traditional activity during dry season: During this season, particularly December and January.
Many cultures celebrate the beginning of raining season and end of dry season. An example is the Argungu fishing festival in n Argungu, kebbi state.
During this festival, many fisherman from various communities would come together in a fishing competition alongside other cultural displays like dancing, singing and other cultural displays which bonds and brings unity to the community.

🟢The wet or rainy season
The wet or rainy season is often characterised by heavy rainfall and high humidity. This can lead to flooding in many areas like bayelsa and the likes.
This season is usually cooler and most importantly supports agricultural activities as plants blooms and grows.
The rainy days could as well ruin plans but the water helps sweep away dirts and debris.
✒️Foods and drinks during this season:
Fresh fruits are readily available during this season. Fruits like mangoes, star apple, pineapple, watermelon etc.
Often used as desserts or enjoyed alongside the main course of a meal or still preferably as refreshing fruit juices.
Pepper soup is one spicy and flavoured soup people enjoy during this season. It's hot and spicy flavour often made with fish, assorted meat or both gives warmth during the cold.
✒️Traditional or special activity :
There are various notable activities during the rainy season, one of such is the new yam festival celebrated by many cultures among the Igbos and Yorubas.
It marks a new harvest season for yams and other staples crops.
The event usually involves showcase of first fruits and freshly harvested yams in colourful parades alongside music, Danes and other cultural displays.
That has been a lot about the seasons in my country. We all have our different seasons, special events, activities, foods and drinks. Now, it's time I hear from you too.
I would like to invite @wakeupkitty.pal , @ubongudofot and @tripple-e to write on this interesting topic.

I will really say each season has its own uniqueness. In this world, we have different people with their preferences. For some people they actually prefer the rainy season much more than the dry season due to one reason or the other and for some people it is vice versa. Any one it is
Yes. The rainy season comes with blessings, because people would be able to plant and good food also come during such time too.
