Achievement 2: Basic Security On Steemit

Here on steemit we care about security and is fully away of the fact that there are people who are trying to exploit us. They are hackers who may want to gain illegal access to our private data and use this data so to speak to steal our asset. That is why it's of the utmost importance for we here on the steemit blockchain to know about the security system put in place to be able to shield ourself from those inside and outside the community who may want to take advantage of our ignorance.

We live in a time where cyber crime is somewhat rampart and if one is not careful hackers may gain unauthorized access to our account and do away with our digital asset. So because of the nature of the time we live in we need to be really careful because steemit and it's team will not be held responsible for any unauthorized access to our asset.

Now to better protect our asset steemit team put heads together and developed a set of keys which serve different purposes without which one can never gain access to our account unless OfCourse we were to give it away carelessly or otherwise. These keys have different forms which we will know, the keys and their different functions.

Types Of Keys

• Master Key/Password: This is like the father of all steemit keys as it is use to derive all set of keys. This master password is being generated when we are registering in the steemit blockchain. It will be good we keep it safe because fraudsters could use this key and gain unauthorized access to our account.

• Posting Key: This is the key we need in other to interact with people in the blockchain. We use this key to be able to post as well as comment on the post of others.

• Active Key: This key is specifically meant to be use in trading our SBD to STEEM and vice-versa it is used for placing market order on the steemit blockchain, we also use it to be able to vote for witnesses

• Owner Key: The owner key holds great influence over other keys on steemit, this is because with the owner key we can easily change any key with it. This key i believe should only be used when we absolutely have to

• Memo Key: is used for encryption or decryption of memo's when transferring funds from our account to another

The Steemit Wallet

We have the Steem area where we can easily chose to transfer our Steem or use it to power up.

We also have the Steem power which is when we have powered up our Steem that is where it will be, and powering up is encouraged since it helps in the overall growth of the community, it is like staking our steem and it has rewards as well.

SBD is the Steem backed dollar, this ofcourse could be easily traded for steems

In Savings we can choose to keep our steems or SBD there in case we haven't decided what to do what our steems or SBD yet which is subject to a 3 day withdraw waiting period.

We also have TRONS which is another reward we earn from Socializing in the steemit blockchain, we earn tron in a ratio of 1:1 with SP in our post payouts

Steps To Take To Transfer Steem Token To another User

To do that i have to go to my wallet and after signing in then.

I will click on that drop down icon as that the arrow is pointing towards then

I will click on transfer after which i will be taken here

Then i will simply input the amount am looking to transfer, the Steem account i wish to transfer to and memo also then click on next and confirm.

To Power up

I will also sign in to my wallet and then

I will now simply click on power up and the rest is history

Conclusion

Security is the back bone of every system or blockchain whether digital or physical the ability to be able to protect one's asset from hackers and crackers is a priority for the longevity of that system or establishment.

I applaud the steemit team for their effort in making sure the security of it's users is insured and it is now on our hands to guard our keys vorociously. I hope to continue to grow in this our wonderful platform am indeed happy to be here
