What is Plagiarism?

In my own understanding, i will simply say that, it is when you use someone ideas about something without acknowledging the real owner. This could be someones thoughts, pictures etc.....
plagiarism is an offense which is not tolerated here in steemit, communities will block your post and you will gradually lose your reputation.

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definitionsource

2

What are the different types of plagiarism?

  • Mosaic plagiarism: The absence of reference marks in words that belongs to another person. It could also be the use of words similar in meaning to an author's words and using thesame arrangement and which will eventually have same meaning of the content.

  • Direct plagiarism: the exact repeation of someones work without referencing the author. This is a very common one among students. It is not acceptable here on steemit

  • Self-plagiarism: repeating your previously submitted work in a community and you go ahead to use it again in another community.

  • Accidental plagiarism: This is another common one. When you fail to cite the source of the text, pictures or you wrongly quote an author.

Significances of plagiarism

Plagiarism is not good. When you plagiarize someones else work, you will lose your reputation here in steemit and It will also affect your writing skill. Anyone guilty of plagiarism, is normally bound by the group or community. Creating original content is the best. You will be rewarded with good reputation and support from steemit groups, followers and curators.

QUESTION 4

How to Avoid Plagiarism

  • laziness : there are lots of nice rewards that you can get through hardwork. Here on steemit we are given, achievement task, contest, and homework(for those in cryptoAcademy), putting in your best will help you stay away from plagiarism. Create enough time and do not be in a hurry to go through the lectures. Pay attention to the rules and regulations that is expected of every post.

  • make reference: one of the most important things you should always remember is to always make reference to the original owner of a text or pictures you use in your own work. So that you wont be punished .

  • Self confidence : trust your self in every task you do. Two people can not have same perspective of a particular topic . no body is better, we are all learning.

Here you will find free images that have been provided by some websites .

          conclusion

You need to be making a quality post by using your own(original) photos and writing with your own idea and understanding of everything. In the case of wanting to make reference of someone else work even if it is an image from the internet, it is compulsory on steemit to put the image source jusf below the image or text you copied. To enable the readers know that, that idea doesn't belong to you.

"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"
