Greetings to all steemians,
Talking about plagiarism according to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word plagiarism means "to steal and passoff ( the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use ( another production) without crediting the source".
The inclusion of the word "steal" in this definition, includes instances when another's ideas or words are intentional used without crediting the source.
Even accidentally using another's ideas or words without proper citation, due to carelessness, falls under this definition since your work tries to passoff another work as your own.

Direct plagiarism is the word- for- word transcription of a section of someone else's work, without attribution and without quotation marks.

2) Mosaic plagiarism:

Mosaic plagiarism occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonymous for the author's language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.

3) Accidental plagiarism:

Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources or misquote their sources,or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, group of words, and/ or sentence structure without attribution.

4) Self plagiarism:

Self plagiarism occurs when a person submits his own previous work, or mixes parts of previous works, without permission from all authors involved.

Source

1) CITE YOUR SOURCE

When alluding to an idea or Worden that's not your own, add a citation in your writing that identifies the full name of the source, the date it was published, and any other citation element that's required by the style guide you are adhering to.

2) Present your own idea

Instead of parroting the source's ideas or words, explore what you have to say about it. Ask yourself what unique perspective or point you can contribute in your writing that is entirely your own.

3) Use a plagiarism checker

While conducting your research on a topic, some phrases or sentences might stick with you so well that you inadvertently include them in your writing without a citation.

Conclusion

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or idea as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it in to your work without full knowledgement.
Plagiarism maybe intentional or reckless,or unintentional.
I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them all.
