Achievement 1 Post by @spartan2 - Introduction
Hello I’m Fahd Umar, an introverted guy. I’m currently resided in a town called Nima, Accra which is located in Ghana, West Africa. I’m a student of the University of Ghana.
I registered on Steemit on the 24 August,2021
My experience with crypto is as follows;
I heard of crypto in 2019 from a one of my computer nerd friends (bitcoin to be specific) and that the authentic website to create a bitcoin wallet was Blockchain. I want ahead to get myself an account. The next challenge was how to acquire some credits into my account. I bought $20.00 for 100 Ghana cedis from one friend who transferred it into my account. That wasn’t enough so I went ahead to search for other means of acquiring BTC on the net and I came across a website which had the Anti-miners. This is where you will send a capital to acquire for yourself a machine which will be mining bitcoin for you 24/7. The interests you will acquire depended on the amount you invested for the anti-miners. Its sounded interesting but I didn’t have the funds even for the lowest of prices for I went ahead to search for other means of acquisition. I them came across a Telegram bot which was quite like a game where you had to accumulate Sutsushi (I can’t really recall the name properly). Here, if you’re able to accumulate up to 100,000 sutsushi you get 0.0001 BTC. And that you are eligible to redeem it when it gets to that point. It sounded good so I went ahead and joined the bot and was active in it. At a certain point I made a deposit of $10.00 worth of Bitcoin into it to buy one of the robots which could boost the production of my Sutsushi since I was initially using the free one which produced quite a low amount per day. With time I accumulated near to that amount of Sutsushi. So, I expected to redeem my first 100,000 Sutsushi into my account the next day but then I realized the amount of Sutsushi I had accumulated had dropped to my surprise. I was shocked but yet I continued to use the Telegram bot. I used it till the bot channel started to misbehave and finally shut down. Long story short, I lost my funds and didn’t get anything in return. I guess it was my fault. I should have known better. After that had happened, I stopped using my blockchain but dashed a friend who was also new to it about $4.00 just to try my had on how to do transfer on it (I mean transferring through some long address seemed too good to be true. Joke on me though). I had lost interest in it because of what I had experienced though it was a relatively small amount of money.
I traveled to the Greater Accra Region of Ghana for school at the tertiary level but had to stay in one of the somewhat local communities since I didn’t get a residence. Through my stay in that community (about 2 years) I came to find out that BTC was a big deal there. I mean it was how people actually made ends meet. It could be exchanged for a credit card if you’re fortunate to have a friend in the state who send you a credit card (Amazon, steam, iTunes and others). I was still reluctant to engage in the crypto again till recently (3 months ago). I downloaded Blockchain app that logged in and to my surprise the $6.00-dollar BTC which I had left in my account long time ago had magically turned into $54.00 dollar. I was very shocked. Them I asked around what had happened and got to know that the price of bitcoin had increased, so that accounted for the increase. I really felt very remorseful. Had I known I should never have given up.
One thing I usually do whenever I’m free is reading. I developed that habit recently since I was really socially anxious and usually, I find myself sitting alone and thinking of all sort of things. The book I’m currently reading is 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson. I also like watching series and movies. Usually action and crime. I’m really passionate about helping and enabling people. I see a world where everyone is content with whatever they have and that we are able relate with one another peacefully without any ill intention whatsoever. I dislike lies. I find that telling the lie is the major source of other bad behaviors and that even when you lie to yourself, you tend not to be satisfied with yourself and that you have to tell more lies just to defend the first lie. So, it ends up affecting you, your family and everyone else you hold dear. So, I say No to Lies.
I’ve actually not made any real decision regarding the post ill be doing here. I am open though to read any post from others be it poems, articles, book review and any other interesting posts. I think I’ll be posting on general issues and things I find will be of interest.
It started with @daakye who is a colleague of mine. He would always be writing poems and other stuffs; I saw it to be a bit weird but he was actually passionate about it. Then another colleague @jhays joined, then @gamma21 then @rover5. So @rover was really instrumental in convincing me to join with the help of @jhays. They did a wonderful job of walking me through the process.
I hope to gain new experiences an entertained by post of others. I also hope to foster my knowledge on the steemit crypto.
