ACHIEVEMENT 2 BY @trexjnr

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Hello again Newcomers community, I really appreciate the community acknowledging my achievement 1 and verifying my account and I say thank you very much.

Without further ado, I'd like to complete my achievement 2 which involves basic security on steemit and centers around the various steem keys, their uses and importance.

I have read the article written by @kiwscanfly on understanding your steem wallet and It thoroughly explained everything I needed to about steem, steem power, Tron and the basic functions like powering up my steem from it's liquid phase and transferring steem.

I did retrieve all my keys when I registered my steem account and they were all presented in a PDF file and I kept them very safe and away from any third parties to keep them completely anonymous to others, only I know each of my keys.

There are 5 basic steemit keys which are the posting key, memo key, active key, owner key and master key.

THE PRIVATE POSTING KEY
The private posting key is used for basic steemit functions like posting on blogs and making comments, it's also used to login to your steemit.com account, voting, re steeming and the likes.

THE PRIVATE ACTIVE KEY
The private active key is the next important key in my opinion and it works like a debit card pin cause it is used for wallet functions functions like transferring steem and powering up and down steem.

THE PRIVATE MEMO KEY
The private memo key is a mini key just used for encryption and the decryption of transfer memos in case you don't want to memos to be publicly seen.

THE PRIVATE OWNER
The private owner key is like the junior master key cause it can be used to reset all other keys in case one key loses its anonymity and a third party gets it....the owner key is used to reset the key, it is advised to keep this key offline cause you'll not be using in online except when there is a compromisation on your account.

THE MASTER KEY
The master key is the master of all keys (pun intended), the king of them all, the key that births all of her keys and the one key you should guard with your life and dignity. It's the key used to generate your steem account and can be used to override anything and everything, if someone gets hold of your master key they basically get hold of your account and all your wealth and belongings on steemit and can do with them as they wish. The master key should be kept as safe as possible and should only be used during account recovery

Apart from the basic steem keys there are also 2 other keys which are basically for Tron transaction purposes and they are the Tron public key and Tron private key

TRON PUBLIC KEY
This is your Tron address. This address is used for transfer of tron. This key is used for receiving tokens from other people.

TRON PRIVATE KEY
This is the key with highest power in your Tron account, more like the active master key. It is used for token transfer, voting and also the freezing of tokens.

The soft copy of my keys have bee kept in a private location which only I have knowledge of and have also enforced it with another security password in case some one discovers the location and tired to swipe them without my knowledge.

To transfer steem from one wallet to another or power up your steem, you first go to your wallet, there you'll see your assets in steem, steem power and steem dollars, on the steem option you'll click the arrow right beside your steem balance

This will bring out a list of options with the transfer and power up option available.

To transfer, you click on the transfer option and insert the username of the user you wish to transfer too and the amount of steem you wish to transfer while to convert your steem to steem power, you click on the power up option and then insert the amount of steem you wish to power up in the available box.

I want to thank the newcomers community once again for giving me the privilege to join the steem community
