An insight on plagiarism

Plagiarism is simply an act of copying another person's work or production without giving a proper credit to the original owner of such work. In other words, plagiarism is stealing, a fraud and a crime which is punishable under the law.
A person is guilty of plagiarism when he/she expressly or impliedly converts or pretends to be the owner of a work/idea which originally belongs to someone else, especially without any form of permission or acknowledgement.

Different ways of committing plagiarism

  1. Paraphrasing a work from an original source without citing the ssource
  2. When an incorrect citation is attached to a quotation
  3. Submitting another person's ideas as your own
  4. Copying another person's work without giving them the due credit

why is plagiarism unethical ?

Plagiarism is unethical because it is a form of stealing. The fact that the work you claim as your own belongs to another means that you stole it.

Ways to avoid and flee from plagiarism

  1. Use your own ideas, and cite sources correctly whenever you use another person's work

  2. Always use quotation marks and the right source for a direct quote. In the same light you can paraphrase but make sure you give credit to the owner.

  • For instance

"The garden strawberry (or simply strawberry; Fragaria × ananassa)[1] is a widely grown hybrid species of the genus Fragaria, collectively known as the strawberries, which are cultivated worldwide for their fruit."source
Fresh strawberries are one of the common, satisfying and nutritious fruits available.source

When you click on the above linked sources it takes you to the original work. Always acknowledge the source of your work and avoid plagiarism

Plagiarism is bad. Alot of people steal without giving credit with paraphrasing thinking that they won't notice but the Steemit community frown greatly on it
