Achievement 4 by @wumpini5 Task: Applying Markdowns
Good day steemians, Today I would be presenting on the applications of markdown. Without wasting much time, let me set the ball rolling.
Markdown is a markup language that you can use to add formatting elements to text documents. Markdown is mostly used in blogging, instant messaging, online forums, collaborative software, and documentation pages. There are also tools that you can use as editors. You need to know its application as it makes one's work attractive to the reader. Below are some markdowns you can apply to make your work appealing to the reader.
To create a heading, add number signs (#) in front of a word or phrase. The number of number signs you use is inversely proportional to the size of the headline. That is, as the number of number signs increases, the size of the headline decreases and should correspond to the heading level. For example, to create a heading level five, use five number signs. It demonstrated below;
Headline level 1
Headline level 2
Headline level 3
Headline level 4
Headline level 5
NOTE: It is important to always put a space between the number signs and the heading name for compatibility.
To add a table, use hyphens preferably three or more hyphens to form each column’s header, and use pipes (|) to separate each column. For compatibility, you should also add a pipe on either end of the row. You can use colon(s) on the left, right, or both sides to align the text left, right or center respectively. This is implemented below;
LIVING THINGS | NON-LIVING THINGS |
---|---|
DOG | MOBILE PHONE |
HUMAN BEINGS | PEN |
GOAT | BOOK |
ELEPHANT | CHAIR |
We use this when we want to quote what someone said or wrote.
To create a blockquote, start a line with greater than > followed by an optional space.
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
― Albert Einstein
We can align images left, right or center. This is illustrated below;

TO APPLY BOLD OR ITALIC TO A TEXT
We can also apply bold or italic to text to make them easy to read or for proper vision. This is normally easy to do.
To bold a text, add two(**) asterisks or underscores(__) before and after a word or phrase. To bold the middle of a word for emphasis, add two asterisks without spaces before and after the targeted word or phrase. Underscores are not used in this situation. Examples, STEEMITIANS ARE LOVELY. , STEEMIANS ARE LOVELY.
To italicize text, add one asterisk(*) or underscore(_) before and after a word or phrase. To italicize the middle of a word for emphasis, add one asterisk without spaces before and after the targeted word or phrase. Examples, I LOVE STEEMIT , I LOVE STEEMIT.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to completing my next achievement task.
Posts from @cryptokannon and @katerinaramm were helpful in doing this.
