introduction
Hello steemians friends, I did my achievement 2 Thursday and it was verified and today I want to complete my achievement 3 which I am advice by @ngoenyi and @mesola so that I will understand the Steemit Blockchain very well and I am so happy I am getting to
What is Plagiarism
Plagiarism is using someone else’s work or ideas taking it to be your own without the permission from the owner, or the knowledge of the owner.
For example coping your friend answer in the examination hall. At least if at all you want to copy and author active you have to give proper citation.
There are types of plagiarism which I am going to name them.
- Deliberate Plagiarism
- Paraphrasing
- Patchwork Paraphrasing
- Stitching Sources
- Mosaic Plagiarism
- Accidental Plagiarism
Deliberate Plagiarism
Deliberate plagiarism is the worst simple form of plagiarism and is the act of trying to pass off someone else’s work as one’s own. An or you can define deliberate plagiarism as the process of by all means trying to deceive academic tutors by passing off someone else’s work as their own.
Paraphrasing
Paraphrasing plagiarism is another common type of plagiarism which occurs in the world of academia is paraphrasing, which is the act of saying a few words but retaining the same sentence structure used by the original author.
Patchwork Paraphrasing
Patchwork paraphrasing is mostly the same as paraphrasing as written above, though patchwork paraphrasing is the act of stealing words and ideas from many source texts and patching them together.
Stitching Sources
Stitching sources is the type of plagiarism that has limited visibility and is not that easy to detect. This is because the list of the source is correctly and accurately cited by the student however they have been unable to critically analyse the source texts to produce a work which is truly their own.
Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic plagiarism is the process of a student using synonyms to replace the words of existing authors in an attempt to pass off the work as their own. Though Mosaic plagiarism is the act of plagiarism often involves the student retaining the author’s main, central idea or argument and simply replacing a few words to pass of the work as their own.
Accidental Plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism usually take place when a student mistakes the views of one author for another, fail to cite their sources and/or unintentionally paraphrases from a source, whether this be paraphrasing or patchwork paraphrasing.
What is Citation?
Citation or citing sources means to include select information about books or articles you read on a topic and use in your paper. Citation is
be in need of when quoting, paraphrasing, or using the ideas (artwork, photos, videos, etc.) or words of others.
Citation also provides interested readers with the specifics needed to retrieve the same source and do more research on their own. The in-text citation shows readers where certain ideas or words in your paper came from, and this shortened version of citation cross-references the full citation at the end of the paper. From the full citation, readers have all of the information they need to retrieve a source.
In conclusion I have read and understand the article of the complete Steemit etiquette on Steemit community and will do my best to embrace them.
