Achievement 3 by @ziabutt3836 Task : Content Etiquette
Hello everyone, My second achievement have been verified. Now, after reading and understanding the instructions given by @cryptokannon, I am writing my achievement 3 post about plagiarism in relation to what we post on steemit.
I think it's safe to say that everything has already been written. It means that all information can be found somewhere.
Please use appropriate format and citing and add a bibliography at the end of your article listing all the sources you used.
""Proof of Brain" concept
Steem provides a scalable blockchain protocol for publicly accessible and immutable content, along with a fast and fee-less digital token (called STEEM) which enables people to earn the currency by using their brain (what can be called “Proof-of-Brain”)." Source
PLAGIARISM
The etymology of the word plagiarism is from the word “plagiarius” meaning “kidnapper, seducer, plunderer..”
However, the first time it was used in the context of literature was sometime around 80 AD by the Roman poet Martial. At that time, poets were expected to be able to recite key works by other authors. However, when Martial learned that another poet, Fidentinus, was reciting his works and taking credit for them, Martial chose to respond.Source
According to Cambridge dictionary,
"The process or practice of using another person's ideas or work and pretending that it is your own is called plagiarism." Source
Types of plagiarism:
Content Scraping: It involves lifting the whole or certain portions of content and passing them off as your own.
Spun Content: It involves changing the sentence structure and certain words from the lines of someone else’s work.
Unintentional plagiarism: Quoting someone else’s ideas and forgetting to cite the source is known as unintentional Plagiarism.Source
Your post on steemit should represent your own idea💡, your own words and your own images.
.
Results of Plagiarism:
You will be down voted by community members because you are using another person's idea without mentioning it's source who may be belong to this community. Down vote discourage you and you may be left this community.
Do legal task with peace of mind and keep safe yourself.
You can be legally prosecuted because you are violating copyright laws.
How to Cite a Source
If you want to use someone else's definition or image then mention the source in your post after that material.
For example I use the definition of plagiarism of cambridge dictionary by giving the URL of source. If you click on source then you went to original page of definition.
It is not sufficient to simply write that “text is from cambridge dictionary”. A link to the specific cambridge dictionary page where the content came from is required.
When you use someone else's images. These images must be free to use.
There are some websites where you can get free images.
https://pixels.com
https://shuttersstock.com
https://pixabay.com
During posting keep something in your mind. Don't post more than 4 times a day because it is difficult for your followers to read all your post.
Use tags related to your post. Do answer others comments on your post. It is bad to ask someone directly for a vote. Don't direct message people you don't know.
Curate or comment on other work.
Special thanks go to @cryptokannon for developing this wonderful task.
