The absurdity of contemporary art

in OCD4 years ago

As you well know and if you are a regular reader of my publications related to art, I am a fan of the creative nature of man. When I started at steemit what caught my attention was the figure of the curator because although it has the same name as the area that evaluates art in general, sometimes it tends not to look like it.

Today I bring you a series of photographs that I have taken during my visit to several museums, the works that you can appreciate I have questioned until I have placed the title of this post as the absurdity of contemporary art, I am seriously thinking of turning this topic into a space for debate.

It's really impressive how little creativity, how simple and far-fetched these contemporary artworks are, empty, cold, they don't express anything, yet the most imaginative minds can find some coherence such as a shirt carefully folded and placed in its packaging as if it were new where you can read the name of one of the presidents of Venezuela.

Or the painting without a painting, something very common in contemporary painting, where you can see banknotes from a monetary cone of more than 20 years ago whose objective is a criticism of the economy with clear kinetic intentions.

Or a sculpture with volume that could well be a solid piece of clay whose relative challenge was to bake the piece or the weight that it means to move the piece to a museum.

He saved the first sculpture which, although disproportionate, denotes poverty in youth, the rest is more of the same, much text and little argument, or arguments about a work that expresses nothing in what the text reflects.

Many have misunderstood me with respect to my position, but it's like listening to jazz and not having coherence in harmonies and melodies, something that if it lacks meaning is the music of Yoko Ono one of the greatest exponents of contemporary art.

It's not a question of discrediting, it's a question of accepting the bad path that contemporary art has taken, although it's not such a bad path if we take into account that the works are sold for millions of dollars even if it was the banana stuck with adhesive tape.

Feel free to give your opinion and we will be happy to reach a consensus. Nothing is difficult among people with reason to debate the proposals that today occupy the museums and that are wrongly called art.
