That said, how does one know what the proper setting ought to be? In the absence of an ability to calibrate, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I'm very happy to hear her COVID-19 test came back negative... excellent news.
I know you've mentioned that Faith was struggling with something; based on what I occasionally hear from a couple of friends who are ER nurses (and having had this issue) one possibility might have been a mild panic attack? It seems these are spiking as well, and hospitals are seeing an increase in "can't breathe, think I'm having a heart attack" admissions.
Not offering a diagnosis here, just tossing out a possibility.
