RE: Working at a call center - crazy customer stories

in OCD5 years ago

I feel you! Been working in a call center (for Jaguar/Land Rover) when I finished my studies and some stories are just hilarious.

My favorite one remains the following: some guy calls to tell me he took a break on a motorway service area and cannot start the car to resume his journey. Then he tells me he doesn't have the car keys. . . His wife got them and she's like 500 km away. (What? How?)

Turns out those were contactless keys (that you only need to bring near the car to start it) and she did keep them when he dropped her at the train station. Poor guy had to have a neighbor drive 2 hours to bring him the key's duplicate.

WTF? haha so it's not your problem to solve then! That's crazy lol why did he even call you? Are there some other possible ways or any other reason why he called?

Hmm the call center was part of the assistance service offered by the brands so customers were free to call us for any trouble and we could always forward them to the right people if needed. In that case however, there was nothing to be done as the car was perfectly fine and a mecanic wouldn't have solved the problem. Still, we could have arranged a taxi ride or a hostel reservation if there was no way he could solve the problem by himself.

(might be useful to add: those brands are among the best when it comes to customer assistance)

Ohhh that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the explanation. :D Yeah I could see why it's among the best
