The Tupper Lake Chainsaw Carving competition, takes place in the beautiful Tupper Lake NY. The venue is on the lake so we have a fantastic view for the weekend. It is always the 2nd weekend in July every year.

I like to get there a day early to setup and relax a bit before it gets hectic and welcome the carvers as they come in.

As the carvers roll in, the setup their carving booths with their work. They come the day before the event starts to setup.

The first day of the event, friday morning 8am is when the chainsaws start to make noise. There are no time limits in this event except to comply with the towns noise ordinance. They can run the saws all day until 8pm.

Through the weekend we had 2 auctions, one Saturday and one sunday where everything they carved was auctioned off. A total of 132 pieces were carved that weekend. 10 carvers raised over $30k in 3 days. Carvers with the highest proceeds win cash prizes and awards.

Look at those hands!

I've already started taking names for this year, the roster is filling up. Those who win this event get invited to my Power-Carve invitational event in August. I will create another post for that event as well.

I hope you enjoy seeing what I "saw"

The chainsaw carvers do a great job. We are lucky where we live here on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, as we have a couple of chainsaw artist also.

Yes I believe Jordan Andersen is from that area, he is a phenomenal carver.
