Homemade Cranberry Sauce, Super Easy to Do!

Making homemade cranberry sauce is relatively simple; however taste wise can be unique to the cook and his or her taste.

The basic recipe for homemade cranberry sauce requires a few basic items such as: Cranberry juice, sugar, fresh cranberries, dried cranberries, lemon zest, and orange zest (optional). Here is an easy recipe for cranberry sauce that will put that jellied-can cranberry sauce out of it's misery.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce Recipe

  • 1 cup of sugar or 1/2c of splenda

  • 1 cup of orange juice

  • 1 tsp. of orange and or lime zest

  • 1 12oz bag of fresh cranberries (remove all stems)

1- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar, orange juice and zest

2- Add the cranberries and cook for about ten minutes until they start to pop. Once they start popping, eyeball the consistency and pull off stove.

3- Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl, stir often; sauce will thicken as it cools.

If serving a large or a small group of guests, a very unique way to serve your homemade cranberry sauce is to use miniature ramekins, or miniature muffin tins to create individual servings, which will look elegant on the dinner plates, and will also eliminate the mess of one large serving. Serving your homemade cranberry sauce in molded individual serving dishes is also a more personalized way of serving your guests, and also creates quite elegant presentation.
