Causes of High Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is the pressure applied by blood upon the walls of blood vessels. It fluctuates on its own but steady hikes are most often associated with diseases. The change in blood pressure can be explained by physiological and environmental factors.

Contributing factors to high blood pressure include occasions where the heart beats stronger and narrowed blood vessels. It can be instigated by stress which causes the “fight or flight reaction” to occur, adrenaline to be produced leading to a narrowing of blood vessels. Likewise, when one consumes foods high in salt, the body has to retain more water to regulate the bod’s blood pressure level.

Others are: inactivity, obesity, smoking, and excessive drinking all which interfere with the functioning, integrity and characteristics of blood vessels. Other factors that can hinder free blood flow also contributes to hypertension such as hormonal release like renin-angiotensin system, way pass narrows the blood vessels.

High blood pressure also known as hypertension can affect principle organs in the body like the heart, kidneys and the brain and, therefore, they require proper management to reach normal range.
