Learn about the 10 most important trends that will be generated by the use of the IoT (Part two) by Karupanocitizen

in Project HOPE3 years ago (edited)

The generalization of the adoption processes of the Internet of Things (IoT), as we have been analyzing in previous articles, entails a series of changes in terms of social interactions, but also in terms of the development and future of the entire communication platform and computational that will serve as support for this type of development.

In this latest installment, of a series of two, we will be analyzing the five latest trends that the implementation of the IoT will bring with it within our daily processes, I hope you can accompany me on such an interesting journey.

Trend N ° 6 Improvement in the efficiency of industrial processes

The implementation of the IoT offers many opportunities for improvements within the industrial field. On the one hand, the constant flow of information on the status of manufacturing orders and inventory maintenance needs would allow the production to be adjusted according to the real production needs, this would allow the production capacity, the need for raw materials and energy, as well as any other associated costs, which would improve profitability by avoiding overproduction and excessive costs.

The constant monitoring of the status of the equipment, its hours of use, and the real-time report of any incident within the production process, would extend the useful life of the equipment by scheduling maintenance needs well in advance, on the other hand, the technology of “digital twins”, which allows organizations to reliably simulate how their IoT devices interact in production processes, would allow them to take full advantage of them

Trend N ° 7 Development and growth of Edge Computing

Edge computing is a technology that distributes the processing load to the last nodes of a digital network (sensors in the case of IoT). The use of this type of computational system allows greater efficiency in terms of the use of computational power since it minimizes latency in data transmission, preserves the bandwidth of the networks, which generates a more reliable operation of the system, representing for the user an acceleration of the decision-making process, as well as the storage and protection of a greater quantity and diversity of data, improving the analysis processes of the same.

Trend N ° 8 Using the blockchain to improve computer security

The fact that the IoT involves the interconnection of millions of devices and these, in turn, are generating and sharing data in a large network causes a great threat of cyber attacks, if they are kept under a centralized approach. That is why the blockchain represents the most logical solution to prevent this threat, firstly because its structure is based on complex cryptographic algorithms, which complicate network hacking processes much more and on the other hand, its decentralized nature eliminates the weakness of Single Point of Failure (SPOF) since the records and data management would be distributed among millions of nodes around the world. Likewise, the inalterability of the records makes the blockchain a secure and reliable record mechanism to support the operations carried out by devices connected to an IoT network.

Trend 9: Need for legal, social, and ethical adjustments.

As with all technological adaptation, these pose new situations that need to be reviewed to determine their legality in terms of the legal framework in which they operate, in this case, the most visible situation is the correct management of data and information generated by the user, already Facebook taught us a lesson in this regard, now with all the devices “monitoring” and transmitting daily what we say, what we do, what we consume or seek, it is necessary to have a strong legal, normative and ethical basis that guarantees that the data recording is carried out legally, guaranteeing that it is only processed and stored as long as it is necessary for the proper functioning of the connected device.

Trend 10: Standardization, a fundamental issue

For the IoT to function properly, there must be a harmonious synergy of three fundamental elements: platform, connectivity, and applications. In the case of the platform, it is about the experience and user interface, and analytical tools, while connectivity refers to the customer's points of contact with the devices. Lastly, applications are the software that controls, collects, and analyzes data. These three categories are interrelated and are all essential, now if the suppliers of the equipment, programs, or systems that serve as support for the execution of these processes do not establish standards regarding them, failures could be generated due to incompatibility of devices, except that government regulations are created that develop common standards for devices connected to IoT networks.

So far the development of the topic referring to the ten trends that the use of IoT will bring us within humanity, now I would like to know your opinion: What do you think about the impact of the use of IoT within production processes? user data management, what other aspect do you consider should be regulated when the IoT comes into force? What is your opinion about the importance of the blockchain within the security processes of the IoT?, I would like to be able to read you in the comment box.

We keep reading!

Number 8 is really important to protect our devices that are connected in IoT from bad actors and from cyberpunks. Using blockchain to achieve this will be a very welcomed idea because of the possibilities that exist in blockchain.

You did an excellent piece here buddy. Thanks for sharing

Thanks to you @samminator for your nice comment, in my opinion in a world dominated by information management, where big data processes are not only the most complex but also the most profitable, the blockchain will become the "key" to put technology to work that until now had not been developed due to the limitations of centralized environments.

Thanks for expressing your opinion, greetings bro

Well done friend. What a good work bringing all these lOT to our awareness, some of the point anayesd in this publication is new to me.. Greetings friend.

Greetings friend @ benie111, it is always good to be able to assess the effect of technological changes on the habits and behavior of societies, this is what allows us to anticipate how the development or reception of these projects will be and if they will end in success or in a resounding failure, in my particular I believe that the world, in the medium term, will be subject to process automation (IoT) and to blockchain as a means for the efficient management of big data.

Thank you very much for your valuable opinion, greetings friend
