Life Issues With Ore Debby ■ 37 ~ Take Responsibility For Your Life

in Project HOPElast year

Hello beautiful people. Most of us have been conditioned to blame something outside of ourselves for the parts of our life we don’t like. We blame our parents, our bosses, our spouse, the economy, the environment, anyone or anything we can pin the blame on.

While it is true that those may play some roles, the grandest of them is you. Yes, you! We never want to look at where the real problem is by ourselves.

Jack Canfield once said,

For every reason why it’s not possible, there are hundreds of people who have faced the same circumstances and succeeded.

Lots of people overcome these so-called limiting factors, so it can’t be the limiting factors that limit you. It is not the external conditions and circumstances that stop you, it is you!

We stop ourselves.

We always think about thoughts that are limiting and engage in self-defeating behaviors. We defend our self-destructive habits with indefensible logic.

We ignore useful feedback, fail to continuously educate ourselves and learn new skills, waste time on the trivial aspects of our lives, engage in idle gossip, eat unhealthy food, fail to exercise, spend more money than we make, fail to invest in our future, yet we blame others for the lack of our progress.

And that's the truth because when you refuse to take responsibility for your life, you always blame external factors as the cause of your problems.

This reminds me of a story I once read about some employees who had worked at a company for years without promotions. One day, they were informed that a man supposedly responsible for their lack of promotion had passed away.

Curious and hopeful to finally see the face of the person they believed had denied them their rightful advancement, each employee was invited to take a peek at the man as he lay in the coffin before his burial.

One by one, they peered inside, only to be left utterly astonished by what met their eyes. Instead of seeing the man who supposedly responsible for their career stagnation, they saw their own reflections staring back at them. A mirror had been strategically placed within the coffin, suggesting that the true cause of their lack of promotions was not an external force, but rather themselves.

Murmuring and grumbling, they each walked away, having been disappointed at what had played out. No one is to be blamed but themselves.

Jim Rohn said,

You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.

The truth is, it is easy to blame everyone else for our lack of progress in life, but for you to make meaningful progress, you must learn to take one hundred percent responsibility for your life.

By taking responsibility, you accept the fact that where you are now is absolutely the result of your actions, choices, decisions, and indecisions.

If you realize that you have created your current conditions, then you can uncreate and re-create them at will. That is the power of taking responsibility for your life.

There is only one person responsible for the quality of the life you live. And that person is you. Responsibility is the only price for greatness.

Blaming others for our actions is highly limiting, but taking the bull by the horn and feeling responsible whenever you need to stand up for yourself, is a strong sign of growth.

Taking the bull by the horn it is. We sure need to take responsibility for every of our actions. Thanks for reading boss.
