STEEM vs HIVE: Pricewise

On March 20, 2020, the Steem blockchain split into two parts, one of which is now known as Hive. The reason for this split in the Steem blockchain was the result of a struggle for the "seat" of the witness position between whales, who are the old rulers, and the camp of Justin Sun, who recently bought Steemit Inc. Finally, the old whales, who were excluded from the witness seat, conducted a hard fork on the Steem blockchain and gave birth to Hive. They and their followers then began a mass exodus from the Steem blockchain to Hive.

The Hive blockchain is an identical copy of the Steem blockchain at the time. All Steem accounts and their assets, including STEEM currency (as HIVE), SBD (as HBD) and SP (as HP), are copied exactly the same, and posts are also copied without change. If we already have a Steem account at that time, we can log into Hive directly using the same private key, and we will find all the same assets and posts.

How efficient is the new Hive blockchain compared to Steem in terms of market price? The chart above shows the prices of STEEM and HIVE currencies over the past one year. In the early days of the blockchain split, HIVE was immediately listed on many exchanges and experienced high price spikes that exceeded the price of STEEM. This HIVE leadership continued until around September 2020, when the STEEM price began to equal and even exceed the HIVE price.

Since then, the price of STEEM has almost always been higher than HIVE, in fact, the distance has gradually increased to this day. We see that STEEM and HIVE prices always go up and down in a similar pattern. This is because the bitcoin price affects all altcoins, resulting in a similar pattern of fluctuations. Meanwhile, around the end of March 2021, the price of HIVE exceeded the price of STEEM for a while, but then STEEM overtook again and continues to this day.

1 STEEM = $0.798 USD
1 HIVE = $0.472 USD

Were you one of those who left to Hive at the time? Or are you staying in Steem? Or active on both blockchains? Let's be aware of the development of these two blockchains.

Steem to the moon 🚀🚀🚀

Whats Hive?

So it it like another Steemit? Which is better? I see things saying to post on Steemit because it has higher price.

I'm trying to be active on both blockchains even though I prefer Steem more and would always put it before Hive when it's about my activity.

It is absolutely interesting to see the progress of both blockchains... but what I for sure enjoy seeing is that the programmers and creative people are starting to blossom on Steemit again, and that we are seeing more and more new dApps, cool functions, initiatives and so! I definitely believe long-term in the future of Steem (that is probably why I decided to become a Steemit witness myself just a few weeks ago!)

Yeah, that's true. Steemit is coming back to life in a bigger way, it is actually great to see. I just hope among the new developments on Steemit, they could add a leasing function too.

Thanks for sharing i love steem.

Steem is the king...

Tremendous analysis!!! I congratulate you my friend, I have also done analysis on hive vs steem. And steem has a clear advantage, despite the public split after the fork, thanks to all the investment by @justinsun I doubt very much that this will fall below 0.70 $.

And with the free Tron airdrop.. Steem has bigger advantage..

Exactly, and not only that, there is a certain demand for steem that does not allow it to stay below 0.60.

The Tron airdrop is like Christmas and a birthday at the same time. It wouldn't have been needed at all, the platform would still have been great, but now you get those Tron tokens in addition... that is just awesome!! :)

I have always wanted to ask, why the SP from payouts are quite smaller than usual. Can you help me out with an answer @puncakbukit and @unbiasedwriter

I think steem is better than hive. Thank you.

Sincerely from my judgement, STEEM is worth while than HIVE I mean Currently the price of one SBD can buy way over 5HIVE at the current price and who wouldn't love to keep pace with the winning side.

STEEM for life.

Exactly, the payout is 5 times better than Hive, because payouts are in SBD and HBD. So, Steem payout is 5 times more than Hive, and the price is still better. That's just massive.
