Believing, Then Seeing

in Project HOPE9 days ago

A lot of us grew up hearing the adage "seeing is believing" but over the years, I have come to understand that it is actually believing that will lead to seeing. It is what you believe that will ultimately influence your reality because you will tend to manifest it through your actions and results. Believing has to do with your optimism and vision, which changes the way you think. That is; instead of waiting for evidence to believe, you tend to look at the destination from the eyes of your vision, visualise the outcome, believe you can do it, then take the step. You do not have to wait to see evidence before you take actions but you need to believe that the outcome will be favourable.

Throughout history, there are lots of people who have believed in greatness and later achieve it. This made them not to give up even when it looked like the tides were against them. Take this example: The scientist and inventor, Thomas Edison, believed strongly in his dreams of inventing the light bulb. According to stories, he embarked on the invention, acting on his belief to make it work. Even when it looked like he was not hitting his target, he did not give up because he has already envisioned the result. He kept going and trying even upwards of a thousand times until he finally achieved his goal. He was kept focused and at the end, he saw what he believed.

If you are waiting to get the evidence before you take any step, you may stay for long without even putting any action. But when you have believed even in the impossible and have made the move, you will see how possible it will become. Of course, something will continue to look impossible and undoable until it is done. Your belief does not have to sound logical for it to be achieved. In fact, it may even look insanely difficult and impossible but it does not mean it cannot be done. Okay how will you explain putting a group of heavy metals to fly? It looked impossible until Orville and Wilbur Wright did the impossible. Just like I normally tell people "believe in your dream no matter how big it looks."

What you need to understand that will make believing easier, so as to eventually see the result, is to start from believing in your own self and abilities. It is by believing what you can do that will give you the zeal and enthusiasm to do it. If you do not believe you have the ability to do something, how will you do it? It is true that it may look impossible, but never doubt your ability to do it. It is how you rate yourself that will determine what you will be able to achieve. Even before the Wright Brothers made their invention, they were discouraged even from the chairman of the Royal Society at that time. However, they never allowed this to make them to doubt themselves. At the end, their dream became a reality and revolutionized transportation.

It is true that you are not without weaknesses, but you should focus more on your strengths and not on your limitations. When you believe in possibilities, then you will not be deterred by barriers on your way. Believing does not mean being blinded to the fact that challenges can come, but it means being certain that even if challenges will come, you are well able to overcome them. What you should keep your mind on is what you want to achieve, not on the oppositions on your way to achieving it. Your destination should be more important than the people you will meet on the road. It is by believing that you will arrive at your destination that will make you to even take step towards it.

As a way of concluding, it is worthy to note that believing does not mean "blind optimism" but it has to do with putting in extensive action towards a particular course. Always have in mind that your belief without the complementary work is futile. That is; it is not all about what you believe but what you do with what you believe. If you want success, then you have to act it out. What differentiates the successful people and others is not just about what they think but what they do with it. It takes being a doer to become successful.
