Fighting Against The Forces Of Fear

in Project HOPE15 days ago

A lot of people have experienced or experiencing fear so much that fear itself could easily pass for a universal natural experience. Of course, at the basics, fear can actually be like a system that is put in place to give us warning about potentially harmful or dangerous threats, while preparing us to respond to uncertainties. However, when the fear becomes increased and irrational, then it becomes problematic, because it can hinder one's progress, and limit them from actualizing their dreams. This is why you need to fight fear before it stops you from making progress in life.

You can only fight and win the enemy that you know about, not the one you have no knowledge about their existence. More often than not, fears come from past experience, or from the thoughts or anticipation of a negative unknown, or from self-doubt. These thoughts can whisper into the ears of the person things like "what if negative thing happens?" If you have ever been in this scenario, you will understand that nothing limits advancement like these kinds of fear. This is why you need to first understand what you are fearful of, know what predisposes you to the fear - like what triggers it, then understand that you can overcome it.

I have come to understand that a lot of what people are fearful of are neither rational nor logical, rather they are creations of the person's mind. Most of the fears that are known to humankind are picked up over time, and not born with the person. What this means is that if you picked up the fears, then you have the ability to also drop it by putting in the required actions. It is the fear that you put up a fight against that will be overcome, otherwise it will remain. Let us consider the potent ways by which one can effectively put up a fight against fear after you have understood the nature of the fear.

You need to take steps towards that particular thing that you fear greatly. Adorably, it may be what you fear the most to do that may hold the key to the very success that you are looking for. To fight your fears, then you have to face it. If you try to avoid your fears, you will magnify it to be greater, but by facing it squarely, you will make it less complex and demystify it. For example, if you have stage fright or afraid of speaking in the public, you can start small by calling a few friends and speaking to them. Then you can grow to speaking to a few more people. Before you know it, you will see yourself addressing crowd.

Another way to put up a fight against your fear is to change your general perspective about fear and then become more positively inclined about life. For example; if you want to take a step, instead of being concerned about negative outcome from the action or what could potentially go wrong, try to focus your dominant thoughts on the positive outcome and what could go right. In that way, you will overcome your fears. You have to realign your thought pattern to see even failures differently - not as something directly opposite to success, but something that can lead you to success. Know that it is not what happens that counts a 100% in your life but how you have responded to what has happened.

The final point to note in the fight against fear is that it is not a fight you do and win in a day but what you should continuously and consistently do. As you take continuous actions towards what you have been scared of, your fears will keep drawing backwards and before long, you will overcome it. Even if you find yourself being fearful about something, do not give into the fear but commonize it and then act towards it. Always know that you have the power within you to put up a fight against fear and also know that your fear cannot control you if you stand up against it. As a way of concluding, let me remind you that everything you want in life might just be found along the same side that you have been scared of, so fight against fear.
