in Hindwhale Communityyesterday

Hello to the community, I hope everyone is doing great!!

It's the third week of October! Can't believe time is flying so fast, that we are closing to the end of another year. Anyway, when that day come I have a dolphin target to achieve. Well, it's a bit difficult, but achievable task under the circumstances. Well, the perfect thing is to take the maximum use of the opportunities around. So, why not to do the regular power up with a promising contest. So, here you have the chance to join Weekly POWER UP & WIN contest by @jyoti-thelight.

As you know we receive our rewards as Steem and Steem Power, the ratio according to our preference (Hopefully SBD too in near future). The native coin of the platform Steem, is the one that can be easily played with. Either we can sell it or put them in to the better use. So, powering up means converting the Steem in to Steem Power, basically we are staking it. So, what's the process and importance of it. Let me explain those two burning questions simply.

Power up process

  • First go to your wallet. The interface will be as below, with different numbers. Here's my wallet before the power up.

So, in front of the amount of Steem you have there is a drop down menu with a few options. So, did you see the power up option there. Just click it. We are one step closer.

100 STEEM POWER-UP

Then you will direct to another window, like below. There we need to enter the amount of our power up, in the space, and hit the power up button. In the next window, we need to submit our active key, so that we are giving the permission. There we go, in a few second the process is completed. You are one step closer to you target.

After Power Up

Before Power Up - 105.629 Steem, 21,431.092 SP
Amount Power up - 100 Steem
After Power Up - 5.629 Steem, 21,531.092 SP

So, it was a pretty good month for me in term of powering up. I have altogether increase it by 650 SP. The contest has been a great motivation, and reminder for me for this regular power up.

The importance of Power Up

So, now let's move to the burning question. For hosting contest to promote this, different initiatives like clubs, and dolphin status there need to be some good benefits. And there are, for both the parties. I mean for the users and the platform.

Basically, Steem Power we have is like a measure of our influence to various things. Mainly it gives us a voting power. Well, we receive good voting from the team, and users with higher power and we can do the same for the others. You can have an understanding about the voting values, if you check the wallets of some of the whales. Well, it needs a big amount, but other than the team and investors everyone starts from zero. So, with that power, we can appreciate good content around the platform. In return, we receive curation rewards proportional to our power. On the hand, we all can delegate to single accounts like, communities and have even better benefits. Unity is the power.

In social level, we receive more recognition and reputation on the platform with higher power. You will be recognized as a committed and loving user. It will unlock other opportunities like, Steem Representatives, moderators, community curators, professors etc. So, these things do come in very handy with out small contribution.

And on the other hand, the platform rely on this as well. Our small gesture helps to stabilize the coin price and for a smooth operation. And don't forget our power increases at an APR of approximately 2.67% as well.

I think you got the picture!! So, hello! This is a win-win condition for all.
