IPL Match || RCB vs GT || Story Time || A fun day || Narendra Modi Stadium
Hello friends, welcome back to my new post. Today I am going to write about a very interesting story. It’s about the time when I went to watch a cricket match live for the first time in a stadium. I hope you all will like it. So let’s start with my post.
At Narendra Modi Stadium
The IPl season was ongoing at the time and some of my colleagues were very excited about it so they purchased some tickets as soon as the window had opened. The match was going to take place in the Narendra Modi Stadium also known as Motera Stadium. The entire city was on high energy levels with a high level of enthusiasm. India 🇮🇳 is a country where the sport Cricket is celebrated and almost worshipped to a great extent. The sport has a great history and also the players gain a lot of popularity while they play for the country. In every city you will see all the playgrounds and even some housing societies where gali cricket is played.
All set for the match
Amongst all this chaos and crowd we managed to get the tickets to see the match of RCB - Royal Challengers Bengaluru Vs. GT - Gujarat Titans. Some of my friends were supporting RCB while I was supporting GT. Of course there were a lot of supporters for GT as they were playing on their home ground. But a majority of the crowd was supporting RCB one of the main reasons being that Virat Kohli was playing in that team. Virat Kohli is a renowned Indian cricketer who is also known as one of the greatest batsman of all time.

3 of us office colleagues were going to go for the match. One of us was going to meet us there directly. So me and my friend Anuj we planned to leave together in the metro. The match was in the afternoon so before leaving we thought of eating something and then get on the metro. I met Anuj at the metro station where he and another friend of ours were having lunch. Soon they got done with their lunch and then we went to the station to catch our metro.
There is only one route for the metro to the stadium. So the metro was full of fans who were on their way to the stadium. Wherever there was a stop, the fans would scream RCB! RCB! RCB!. It was mad. They were also cheering out loud some slogans altogether. It was a sight to watch! Amidst the crowd Anuj and I managed to make some space for us to stand. Finally the stadium had arrived and we reached there with the crowd. It was hot and sunny but that didn’t stop the fans from cheering and dancing. There were so many people who had painted their faces, had made some big placards and posters, were wearing their respective team’s T-shirt and were just cheering around.
We met our friend Navyaa and her group and then went towards our seats. The vibe of the stadium was amazing. I was witnessing it for the first time and so I was even more excited. When we reached there were some announcements going on and the players were doing their warmups on the ground. The entire crowd was getting ready to see the match and there were still a lot of people entering the stands. KKR won the toss and finally the first ball was thrown and the match began.
The RCB decided to field first and they strategically placed their players in the best positions on the ground. As the match progressed, it kept getting intense. Whenever the GT would hit a six! or a four! the crowd would cheer the maximum. The GT made a total of 200 runs with a loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. It was not a very strong score but they played well. The game was now in RCB’s hand. To win the match, they had to score above 200 runs. The crowd was now excited to see Kohli on field to bat.
He is a player who can hit the maximum sixes and fours to get the team to win. The crowd would automatically scream when Kohli was batting. It was so surreal. Finally RCB scored 206 runs making them the winning team. It was truly an amazing game played by both the teams and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My brother had advised me to leave the stadium when there are 3 overs left to bat, but instead we remained till the last ball was bowled. And that was the mistake we did 😂. Soon after the match finished, we were stuck in the middle of a huge crowd, making it difficult to get out of the stadium.
We made it out somehow but again we got stuck at the metro station. Because to regulate the crowd they were stopping people from getting into the station. My friend Anuj and I thought we’d wait for sometime and then go. So we went to the nearby shop and had sugarcane juice. Before we knew it 3 hours had passed and the station was still full of people. We started walking a little ahead and thought we’d take a rickshaw back home. But they were charging a lot. Finally we gave up and waited a little more for the metro. Later we made it to the station and took the tickets and got into the metro.
Here I come to the end of my story. I hope you liked it. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and feedback. Until next time Bye 👋 take care.
