Season 07- : Share Your Food diaries, Reviews, and Adventures!
@artist1111 Today, I’m taking you to a cozy restaurant in the heart of Catania, located on a quiet street near the bustling main square. Cuore Fresco is the name, and their menu includes salads, burgers, sandwiches, focaccia, platters, fresh juices, smoothies, desserts, cocktails, and wines.
The medium-sized restaurant is elegantly minimalist in decor, exuding Italian charm. It’s a great spot for eco-conscious visitors, as they source local ingredients and include many organic items. The colorful menu also offers numerous vegan options, covering savory dishes and desserts. I found this gem on Happy Cow, a site where people share tips about vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurants.
Here’s what we tried:
a glass of white wine recommended by the waiter - though I don’t know its name, it was wonderful!
The Cipolla sandwich: gluten-free bread with sunflower and pumpkin seeds, vegan cream cheese, baked zucchini, eggplant, onion, lettuce, and tomato.
A Crudo - sandwich with prosciutto crudo and tomato.
The Tacchino salad with arugula, iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan, corn, and turkey breast.
The only aspect that slightly disappointed me was not the absence of plates, but the fact that the salad was served in a plastic container.
Given their eco-friendly philosophy, it makes sense since they recycle everything, but it still stood out. And you might not know this, but in Italy, most of the people are very committed to sorting waste and living more sustainably.
A vegan dessert with mango marmalade, persimmon, and some nuts.
The food was fantastic, and I highly recommend checking out this gem if you’re ever in Catania or planning a trip there!
Cheers)))
