In my opinion, June is the sixth month of the year, and it signifies the change in seasons, particularly in Asian countries.
In most parts of Asia, the rainy season begins in June. The monsoon rains provide relief from the heat and make the surroundings lush and green, renewing the soil.
As Sri Lankans, we focus on the environment and agriculture this month. When our farmers begin to plant their rice and other crops, the monsoon rains are very important.
I consider June to be the month of renewal and growth. It is because the rain brings fresh life to the environment and the ending of the academic year provides new opportunities for students to learn and play.
In cold countries, June is regarded as the most popular month for outdoor activities, vacations, and festivities due to the warm and beautiful weather. Most countries end the school year and begin their summer vacation.
Finally, it is considered a lucky month, hence the majority of wedding activities, in my country, take place during this month.
As June is considered a lucky month, most individuals in the area plan their weddings during this month. As such, my grandson's wedding took place this month at Pabavi Reception Hall. This wedding made us very pleased because it allowed all of our siblings and their families to meet in one spot. We spent a great time talking about our childhood experiences and memorable moments in our lives.
The event also allowed us to recognize our siblings' new family members who had joined their families when their children married. Not only that our aunts and uncles, whom we hadn't seen in a long time, were able to meet on this day and strengthen our relationships. And it was the moment we enjoyed the traditional rituals that come with our wedding ceremony. All of these make our hearts happy and full of affection for one another.
I participated in my grandson's wedding in June 2024, it was a lovely month as it provided me joy and happiness. This occasion was attended by all of our relatives, some of whom I had not seen in a long time. The wedding was a magnificent celebration of love and family, complete with laughter and meaningful moments.
It was a wonderful occasion when all of the family and relatives met in one location to share stories, recollect old memories, and create new memories. The celebration was quite lovely, with many traditional customs and colorful decorations. The happiness I saw on my grandson's face, made me proud.
This ceremony not only enhanced our family bonds but also fostered unity and affection. June 2024 is the happiest month in my heart because of the amazing events surrounding my grandson's wedding.
My daughter-in-law is expecting a baby in September. As a result, her parents and we have prepared a three-hour Pirith Chanting Ceremony in her birthplace in Polonnaruwa. This blessing is more significant for her because she is expecting a child. The main objective of this pirith ceremony is to bless her and her expecting child. In my country, pregnant women are traditionally blessed with pirith.
Pirith chanting is a sacred Buddhist practice in which monks chant protection phrases. We believe that this will provide her with safety, relaxation, and blessings in her special moment.
This is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and wish my daughter a healthy and safe birth. I'm looking forward to this wonderful occasion, which will bring our family closer. It will also give us hope that new life will soon be with us.

First of all thank you for inviting me to this competition. I am surprised that your grandson is of marriageable age, I did not think that you are so senior.
Second surprise was that you enjoyed the month of June, I find this month the worst. This time in this month all the records of last 70 years of heat were broken in our country, at some places the temperature went above 50 degrees and many people lost their lives due to heat waves. Just now from 28th, pre-monsoon has knocked in some areas.
