Winter is very cold season, usually temperature here in UK tend to go down to sometime to -2-6C but often it is 0-8C above zero. Another typical feature of winter is wind, that is usually cold and you notice easily and quickly how your nose, ears and hands are freeze and the best thing is rushing to go home in warm environment. The best food in winter, in my opinion, any type of soups, because soups are digested easier and you do not feel full. The warmth of soups spread quickly inside of your body and warming you from inside. Very popular type of soup is chicken soup, from old time it is considered to be the best remedy for any diseases, like Flu, cold and viral infection, but also in the case of any other disease when your body has no power for hard work to digest the food.
Special ingredient is a whole chicken, it is important to buy free range chicken or from a farmer, so it should be biologically clean. The other important ingredient is to add garlic and black pepper that adds a component of antioxidant and helps to strengthen the Immune system. Otherwise, we tend not to add many ingredients only, one carrot, couple of potatoes, onion and small amount of noodle.
It is easy to prepare such soup, what you need:
whole chicken, usually better to divide into smaller pieces, it is easy to cook, so wash under clean water and cook in pot for one hour. Then take the cooked chicken out and remove all the bones, the rest put back in a pot
one carrot cut into cubes
two potatoes also cut in smaller pieces
one onion and 5 gloves of garlic also cut in smaller pieces
appr. 100 g noodle any sort of
Cook everything for 15 minutes and your soup is ready
I would like to invite @joan-na to join my lunch and to try this wonderful winter food, chicken soup, she is one of users who I was in contact very often and also she is from Nigeria which is a country where I think if they cook chicken soup but then recipe might be completely different. I would love to find her opinion about our type of chicken soup and we could discuss what is the difference from the recipe in her country.
I hope you also learnt something interesting today and I would like to invite @dave-hanny, @joan-na @djvijay for the contest.
Thanks for inviting me and good luck to you.
