Diarygame: Birthday celebration and the lesson I got--- 7-12-2024
The best moments in life are not shared alone.
Some days ago, my friend and roommate celebrated her birthday in the room. If you ask me, I’ll say it was worth it.
One could easily tell she was overwhelmed with joy.
It was known already, of course, that it was her day, and she was in full control.
The night before, Maureen looked disturbed. Everyone in the room, including myself, tried to make her cheerful, but it was all to no avail. She was deeply concerned about her friends not turning up for her birthday.
Asides her roommates, she had wished for her friends to come, but her countenance spoke disappointment. After trying so hard to make her feel better, we decided to let her be.
We can only talk to people, but there's no guarantee that we can change them.
The next day, I got back from school to see that the room was already set for the celebration.
I saw some girls in the room talking and laughing with their cliques. Paying a particular attention to Maureen’s face, it was soul-lifting. She was literally smiling from a corner of her lips to the other.
That alone brought a smile to my lips. Maureen desired to celebrate her day with her friends, and that was a reality for her.
The party began as soon as we possible, and it was so beautiful. Her friends practically made her day. She couldn’t help but smile till tears ran down her cheeks.
She was mimicked, prayers were said for her, and wishes made. She kept thanking everyone for turning up for her birthday. She was scared she was going to be alone, but they surprised her.
If Maureen was a bad person, she probably would’ve been alone, or with just a few girls.
Instead, she chose to be the sweet one in her relationships with her friends.
No matter how much we have, our success are always shared with people, it has a way of bonding relationships, and sharing our joy our journeys with others.
All these and more were my lessons from what I saw in Maureen’s birthday celebration.
Anyone can choose to be better. I choose to be better.
