Steem Has No Planned Blockchain Improvements

in O.G.4 years ago

So here's a top witness asking unironically for development ideas:

https://steemit.com/witness-category/@justyy/what-features-improvements-do-you-want-to-see-on-steem-and-steemit

He makes a distinction between the blockchain and front-end, asking for ideas on both. But nobody could think of any blockchain improvements. This would imply that the blockchain is in good shape since TRON "integration."

I have my doubts. The group of people in charge of this aspect are also the ones who blocked my entire blog when I expressed my doubts.

See, I'm of the opinion that the market-cap for Steem is strictly speculation, not due to any merit of the project.

I find it odd that these top witnesses still reference the old repo:

https://steemit.com/witness-category/@justyy/witness-block-error-due-to-block-too-old

This is odd because this repo doesn't even have any pull requests for the latest changes that the witnesses currently utilize.

It seems like the latest recommended instructions for setting up a witness is:

https://steemit.com/steem/@ety001/a-simple-tuturial-for-a-dockerize-steem-witness-deployment

The official block-log is gone. This ety001/steem-mira:0.23.1claims to pull from the latest stable version provided by Steemit, Inc. This doesn't seem right because the latest changes have not been merged into the repo.

I did find this:

https://github.com/hfang1989/steemhf/tree/hf0.23.1

It has the changes to powerdown time (from 13 weeks to 4 weeks) so it's probably the code they're using. But it hasn't changed for over a year.

Anyway, the point is, there's no development happening on the blockchain, so it makes no sense for witnesses to inquire about adding new features to the blockchain.

Lucky nobody asked for any.

On the other hand, if you were proud of your blockchain, instead of wiping my blog, you would answer the question. Either show me the repo or do something even more impressive and say that blockchain development has been halted because there is no way to improve perfection.

I would be impressed with that answer. It would mean that Steem intends to become an immutable blockchain like Bitcoin. But we all know that's not the case or else why ask for suggestions on improving the blockchain?
