When I read the title I knew exactly what to expect, we also have this in Romania usually used during holidays/events as something cold and quick to grab. In our case it comes in different recipes, some people also add carrots, green beans or even peas. And for the mixture sometimes some mayonnaise.

My grandma does it like you did, but instead she uses beef and homemade mayonnaise.
