SEC | S13-W5 - “My ideal drink in daily menu delights”

Hey Steemian friends!

Time for a daily diary detailing my meals. Today was quite typical, and I'd like to share my food journey throughout the day. Since, I'm controlling my food intake, I on a mission to fast at least 14+ hours a day keeping a window to eat less than 10 hours. So, this is how I did it today.

👉 Breakfast

My breakfast time would depend on my dinner strategy. I always try to finish my dinner between 7 to 8 pm, and Last night's dinner was an early dinner at 6 pm. This allowed me to have breakfast a bit earlier today. I broke my fast at 10:30 am, marking a good 16+ hours without food for my stomach. I used to this diet type and it is known as "intermittent fasting."

Herbal porridge is my favourite drink for the breakfast

The highlight of the day was I purchased "Herbal porridge" as a supplement drink to my breakfast and it was so good. I always try to drink this herbal porridge at least a twice a week. There are different types of herbals in it and it has numerous benefits to the health. Alongside, I filled my tummy with 4 slices of bread, butter, chicken curry, and a vegetable spring roll.

👉 Lunch

Today, my wife didn't have time to prepare lunch, so I opted to buy my meal from a nearby restaurant. In Sri Lanka, rice and curry are customary for lunch. I chose a Chicken Rice packet with vegetable curries which included: Dhal curry, Cucumber salad, Gotu kola (pennywort salad), and Papadam. Lunch happened around 2 pm, and though not entirely satisfying, it's how I had to manage when my wife haven't had time to cook. A glass of water typically follows lunch.

Not the most appetizing lunch today.


👉 Dinner
Now, this glass of milk is a delightful treat

Tomorrow is Saturday and we have an invitation from one of our friends to have lunch. Probably a lot of calories! 😁 I decided to keep a simple dinner and stay empty in the morning till I get to the lunch just to balance out everything. So I had only a glass of fresh milk as my dinner at 07pm. Having a glass of milk with pinch of turmeric powder in the night is a habit now.

Having such a light dinner tends to improve my sleep quality. Okay that wraps up my day of food and drinks. Now I will answer the question that you have for me.


👉 Do you know the importance of consuming water and other liquids for our body?

Staying hydrated is one of the key element for our health. We can stay without foods for days, but we barely can stay hours without water. It's not just about quenching our thirst, drinking enough water and liquids helps keep our bodies in check digestion, body temperature and practically the whole system. As per my understanding we have to take water intake as one's body weight. For example,

Assume a person weight 80Kg, the calculation for this person water intake would be,

80 / 30 = 2.6 Liters per daily.

For someone weighing 55 kg, the calculation would be,

55 / 30 = 1.8 Liters per daily.

This is the simplest method I know for calculating the water intake.


👉 How many glasses of water do you consume on average per day, do you think they are enough?

I mentioned that I'm into intermittent fasting. This means, I pay careful attention to my water intake to prevent unwanted gas. A trick I employ is keeping two water glasses on my desk and setting an alarm for every 30 minutes to ensure I have a refreshing sip, this habit has been helping me stay focused during 30-minute working intervals.

The hot herbal porridge bowl would be my pick! 😃 a unique cultural delight with numerous health benefits. I believe anyone would appreciate it, if not for the taste, then perhaps for its health advantages. As for sharing, I'd choose @carlaisl. I don't have a particular reason for this selection but hope she would love it.

Oh I so much like your meal menu it helps you consume less calories but then your breakfast looks appetizing 😎 you really plan well for your dinner against tomorrow so you balance up everything you missed.

You have made a very valid point in this statement on hitting the importance of water Intake to the body. We can stay without food but not without hydration from water. The lack of adequate water intake can cause difficulties to the body. I’ve expanded and I reiterated this on my post drink of my daily menu

As to google it is just 03days that we can survive without water and guess what, we can stay around 30+days without food. That is insane! 😮
